The Rejected Mate

Chapter 19

Kendall's P.O.V

"P-Please, uh-come on in." The red headed girl stuttered. She tried standing up taller and showing no trace of fear, but really? We are half wolf. We could smell her fear.

Maybe I haven't said it before but the people in our pack were huge. I mean bigger than average. Standing at 5'10, Sam, Lacey, and I were the smallest of our pack. Yet here we were, towering over this small red head.

You could imagine what the rest of us look like, huh?

Lucas led our group inside the pack house. It had the same furniture, the same pictures, basically everything was the same as when I had left. Except I didn't have the same feeling as I used to have here.

Before, I felt like at any given moment someone would pop out of nowhere and beat the crap out me. Could you really blame me though? They mentally and physically abused me.

But now that I walked through the doors, my head was held high and I felt as if the world was below my feet. On the inside though, I was panicking to no end.

"Um, T-The Alpha will be right w-with you." The same girl whispered before scampering away. Greyson chuckled at her reaction, which caused Lucas to smack him upright the head.

He had his 'This-is-no-laughing-matter' face and to say it wasn't scary was an utter and complete lie. Grey cleared his throat and put an emotionless mask on, cutting any sign that he was laughing moments ago.

We waited about two more minutes, which to me felt like days. Nerves inside of me were killing me but I kept a calm face. Then I heard the sound I was dreading to hear. Footsteps. Footsteps coming towards us, at that.

My breathing had quickened and Lily was testing the little nerves I had left by howling and scratching at me.

"Alpha Lucas." His voice echoed through the house. Lily had finally stayed put and instantly calmed at her mate's voice.

Shivers were going through my back and the horrid thing is that I have no idea if they were the good or bad kind. Certainly the bad kind, he hurt me. It had to be the bad kind. Right?

At the sound of his name, Lucas straightened himself and walked towards him. Since I was still behind the 6 foot monsters that were my pack, I couldn't see a thing. Which I guess was a good thing.

"Welcome to the Midnight Pack. I'm Alec and this is my Beta, Ashton." He introduced. My heart was pounding faster than when a basic girl's favorite Starbucks is back.

'His voice. Oh god I missed his voice so much.'  Lily sighed dreamily. I mentally rolled my eyes at her. He's said a full sentence and she's already freaked out and going crazy.

Ugh woman up and just at least take a peek at him. Maybe he's gotten hideous and grew a huge zit on his face and he won't look so handsome anymore.

Standing on my tippy-toes I took the slightest glance at Alec from behind Cory, who was thankfully taller than me so I could hide behind him.

I felt my small chance that he maybe looked worse throughout the years, shatter when I took in his full 6'4 frame.

He was still drop dead handsome. With his stupid perfect face, dumb forest green eyes, and idiotic skinny body.

Wait, hold up. Skinny? Alec was never skinny. No, he wasn't fat his body was very well built meaning he was buffer than other people. He had a whole lot of muscle in his body, but right now it seems to me like he had lost about 30 pounds.
