The Weekend

Ayato

Ayato sat at his desk grading papers. As an English teacher, he was grading long essays and theme assignments day after day.

This is exhausting. He sighed. Thoma walked into his classroom and began cleaning up the mess Ayato's students had left behind.

"Good afternoon Mr. Kamisato," Thoma said in his usual cheerful voice. "What are you doing here on a weekend?"

"Grading essays, lesson planning, creating rubrics." He smiled, even though he didn't enjoy spending his weekends like this. Thoma nodded and proceeded to clean his classroom. About half an hour passed before Thoma cleared his throat.

"You know, if you're ever bored, we could spend some time together off the school's campus," Thoma said, throwing the last bit of trash away.

"That sounds pleasant. Why not today?" Ayato stood up from his desk and stretched, cracking his back. Thoma turned his head, slightly afraid.

"Why the scared face Thoma?" He laughed softly.

"I could hear your back crack from over here." Thoma's hands were shaking. Ayato and Thoma had to be at least ten or fifteen feet away from each other.

Ayato laughed again. "It seems I've gotten so lost in grading papers that I forgot to check my own health." Thoma's hands stopped shaking. He sighed and smiled.

"Why don't we spend some time outside the school's campus?" Thoma cracked his knuckles. Ayato nodded.

"Shall we escape to a proper day of relaxation and freedom?" He offered his hand to Ayato. He nodded again and took Thoma's hand. The pair walked out of the school, and off the campus.

(Preferably read in that SpongeBob SquarePants time passing voice. [You know the one])

Two Hours Later

Thoma and Ayato were enjoying their day out. They went to a boba shop, walked around town, and dug their toes into the beach sand. On their way back to the school campus, they ran into three familiar face.

"Mr. Kamisato!?" Collei exclaimed. Ayato was surprised  to see that Collei recognized him in casual clothing.

"Collei, how lovely it is to see that you're doing well." Ayato smiled, screaming internally.

Collei, Tighnari, and Cyno were on their way to an arcade when they came face to face with Ayato and Thoma. There was a long, long, long  awkward pause in their small conversation. Ayato couldn't help but look Collei up and down. It was an older brother instinct. In his opinion, she was showing too much skin. His concern for her clothing was showing on his face.

"Is something wrong Mr. Kamisato?" Cyno asked.

He shook his head. "Just thinking about misbehaving students." He laughed softly at his lie.

There was another long and uncomfortable stop in the conversation. Thoma finally spoke up, seeing the discomfort on Collei's face.

"I hope you three are enjoying your day." He gave a friendly smile before dragging Ayato away from the students.

Ayato sighed. "What was Collei thinking?"

"What do you mean." Thoma tilted his head.

"She shouldn't be wearing clothes like that in public." Ayato shook his head.

"You have a problem with her ripped jeans?"

"No, no. I don't. It's the cropped top. People might look at her the wrong way." Ayato rubbed his forehead.

"I understand why you have a problem with it. You're probably the same with your younger sister, but it's her brother's job to take a look at her outfit."

Ayato sighed. "I know. Let's go back to the campus before we get in trouble for being gone too long."

Thoma laughed. "Agreed."

Once they were back at the school, Ayato went back to grading and Thoma went back to cleaning.

"Mr. Kamisato?" Thoma sighed.

"Yes?"

"We should spend more time together." He smiled and left the room.

"Thoma!" Ayato went after Thoma and tapped his shoulder.

"Yes?" Thoma asked.

"Don't be afraid to call me Ayato when my students aren't around." He smiled.

What's this feeling in my chest? Ayato thought. Why is Thoma so...charming?
