I had to hold Ryhlee by the shoulders to keep him from falling over, he was full on sobbing by now. He ran over and knelt down, holding Eliana. "It was the boy from five, Otto Reeves. I tried to stab him, but he got away. I'm so sorry Ryhlee" Coral hugged him, and I joined in a few seconds later. I felt horrible, I promised him nothing bad would happen, and right off the bat his district partner was killed off. First, he got severally injured, now his best friend was dead. The three of us cried for a long time, Ryhlee crying more than us, and I held him while thinking about Otto's downfall.

After he calmed down, we moved Eliana's body to a vacant side of the arena and laid her out. The three of us (and Treech and Tanner) stood around, mourning the friend we had lost, and Ryhlee started singing.

Are you, are you, coming to the tree,

where they strung up a girl, made for the sea.

strange things did happen here, no stranger would they be,

if we met at midnight, in the hanging tree.

are you, are you, coming to the tree,

where I told you run, so we'd both be free.

I joined in for the chorus this time, not wanting him to be alone.

Strange things did happen here, no stranger would they be,

if we met, at midnight, in the hanging tree.

Ryhlee hugged me as Coral covered Eliana's body with a few jackets we had stolen from dead tributes, and I felt bad that he had to see this. "Let's go sit down" I said, leading him to the center. I rubbed his back while hugging him to my chest, whispering in his ear. "It's going to be ok... you're going to be fine... I won't let anyone hurt you" I said calmly as possible, as I was starting to cry now. Treech was sitting on the side of the arena with his hat covering his face (probably didn't want us to see him crying), thinking over what had happened, Tanner, who was also crying, was throwing rocks at the wall in frustration (we all knew he like liked her, so this was probably hard on him) and Coral was tearing up as well as she made her way over to the two of us. "I'm so sorry guys... I should've done more to help her, but I couldn't, and I won't let that happen to you guys, I promise. I'll protect you with my life, for Eliana." Coral brought us into a hug and sat there. A team of once four now three, but I could still feel like Eliana was there, like she was watching over us, hugging us as well, keeping us together.

That night Ryhlee and I laid down next each other, hidden behind a piece of rubble. Coral refused to lose another one of us, so she forced us all to hide, and one would take watch at a time. Soon enough, it would be Ryhlee's turn to go on watch, so me and Ryhlee decided to cuddle up together as it was cold without a ceiling. he hadn't spoken much since Eliana had died, and it made sense, Eliana raised him since he was a baby, and our plan was intended for the four of us, but now it was up to us three. Tanner and Treech were underneath a different piece of rubble, so we were safe from anyone seeing us. that was until I heard Coral come up and me and Ryhlee quickly separated. "Yō, songbird, it's your turn to take watch" Coral said, sliding into the piece of rubble. Ryhlee wriggled out, grabbing his knife (he said he couldn't shoot in the dark) and went to go sit at the post. "Hey, so I was thinking, I should get into a fight with you guys, and I'll run away. since you two are just as strong as me people won't think anything sketchy of it. How does that sound?" she asked. I nodded, and we went back to sitting in silence.

"So, you and Ryhlee?" Coral asked, smirking. "What about me and Ryhlee?" I asked, hoping she hadn't figured out what was going on. "Are you guys, like, a thing now?" she guessed, and I turned red immediately "wha-no! where just friends! Why would you think that?!" I exclaimed, still blushing. "you guys just seem really touchy, and I thought you guys were maybe a little more than friends. It's totally fine if you are by the way. I want you to know you can tell me anything." she assured me. I debated whether I should tell her or not. I didn't even know what we were, so how could I label us? "I know, thanks for looking out for me" I said.  Coral was about to say something else when we heard Ryhlee scream our names, and we shot into action.
