When we got to the Capitol, they gave us clothes to change into and sent us to separate rooms. They gave me a blue suit, which fit particularly well. Coral approached me, she had a red blouse and fancy jeans, Olivia was wearing a red dress with frills on the edges. "You look great, never thought I would see you so excited to be in the capitol" Coral joked, seeing the large grin on my face "I'm glad I'll be able to see Ryhlee again, I feel like it's been forever since I saw him in person" I answered, fixing my hair.
We were escorted to one side of the stage and told to wait, I stood behind the other two, they wanted me to be a surprise, give them the special moment. I heard Lucky Flickerman introduce Ryhlee, and they started the interview. He asked him the simple questions, like how was the game without your pack? And how are you feeling? I rolled my eyes at his basic questions and heard him finally introduce us "now introducing Olivia Corbell, Coral Kelsh, and Mizzen Kelsh!" We made our way out, and Ryhlee jumped up to hug us. Then he saw me. He ran over, tears in his eyes, and hugged me, I wrapped my arms around him securely, and whispered in his ear "you're safe now, I won't let you go back ever again, I promise." Ryhlee dried his tears before taking my hand and sitting down next to me.
"So, I have to ask how you guys felt watching the Hunger Games?" Lucky asked, holding the microphone to the three of us.
"It was hard to watch at certain points, but it's amazing to see how strong Ryhlee's gotten, I'm truly amazed" Coral put her hand on his shoulder, smiling proudly.
"It was nice to see these two making friends with other tributes, although it was definitely a shock when Mizzen kissed him, but I think we all had it coming" Olivia joked softly, I admired how she paid attention to the small details and made a joke about it.
"I was scared shitless not gonna lie, I was scared to look away for a second, too scared that I would look away and never see him again" I teared slightly, taking his hand. "But he made it through once again, and I'm so glad that he's safe" Ryhlee hugged me, tearing up as well.
"And Ryhlee, how did you feel during the games?" Flickerman asked.
"I was kinda just in survival mode this game. Last time I had more trustful allies and didn't have to worry that much, but this time I had to be more independent. I was really just focused on surviving that I still haven't comprehended what happened, a lot of it was a blur" Ryhlee admitted, he looked down at his shoes, avoiding the audience's gaze.
Flickerman asked us more questions that I found useless before ending the interview and sent us off to sleep for the night. I changed into a pair of pajama pants and a shirt before making my way to Ryhlee's room. When I opened the door, I saw him sitting in his bed, shirt off and staring at the ground, I t was at that moment I realized how bad he looked. We had all gotten a fair share of injuries, but Ryhlee had always gotten the worst ones, and know he had even more. He kicked cast back and forth, scratching at a scar until it began to bleed softly. "Ryhe?" he looked over at me, beginning to smile and moved over so I could sit, I grabbed the bandages that were on the bedside table and slowly wrapped it around the scar on his waist. " I love you Ryhe, more than anything." I whispered, pulling him into a tight, securing hug. "I love you too" Ryhlee said, sobbing softly.
That night we both laid down next to each other, not sleeping but enjoying each others presence once again. In that moment though, I think we both realized how much we both loved and needed each other, and how much being without each other disturbed us, especially Ryhlee because of his attachment issues. I love him more than anything, and I know he does too.
