𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫

"How are you feeling Rengoku-san?"

Rengoku was silent. His consciousness was slowly catching up to him. His eyes began to rapidly blink as he awoken and looked towards my direction. The plate with the last remaining sweet potato was now placed on his left.

"Please don't move too much. Your ribs my be fully healed, but still--"

"Thank you... "

He looked at me with a soft expression. His owl shaped eyes softly looked at mine. He was really thankful. The words felt as if they were from the bottom of his heart

"I owe you my life. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be here breathing today-"

"Rengoku-san"

He was speaking so fast with so much energy. I was worried he would pass out again

"I'm right here. Take your time, I don't want to see you unconscious again" I said with a soft smile. I had to admit, his words were very touching. I just didn't want him to stop mid sentence coughing or fainting

"May I...hug you?" He asked. He wanted my consent, even if it was a hug. Unlike our third encounter, when he barged in the room I was in and hugged me on the spot

"Of course you may"

His large arms came my way and gave me a tight hug that he longed for. I too hugged him back. I had to admit, I missed him. I missed him so much

"We thought we lost you on that train. You never woke up. I feared you'll never awaken" He said tightening his arms around me. I could feel his head in the side of my neck and his heart beat beating from within his chest. His body began to rapidly heat up at a very concerning way

"It's alright. I'm right here. Right by your side." I softly said rubbing circles on his back

"Your family and friends missed you. Tanjiro and his friends really missed you and your company. However, they're currently on a mission, so they won't be here till later on in the day" I stated.

All I got was a 'hmn' out of him. But I was sure he was happy inside

"I also heard from a kakushi that your younger brother Senjuro was here a few hours prior. I'm sure he'll be back soon"

I then pulled back from our warm hug with a soft smile

"Is there anything I can get for you? Water? a nurse? More food?"

"I'm alright! The sweet potato you gave me will be enough for me for the time being. I appreciate everything you've done for me! So please, your company is all I wish for" He said with a small chuckle

I too began to laugh. But only at the sudden change in his behaviour

We then went quiet when a 'thud' sound was made. Our eyes slowly went from looking at the bag of food that had now fallen on to the floor, to the same identical looking boy with yellow hair, red tips and teary relived eyes with dark circles around them
