If Sunghoon were given the choice, he’d choose to wake up just like this, in Heeseung’s arms. He didn’t get the chance to enjoy his morning like this, with Heeseung often getting up way before Sunghoon even began to wake up. Sunghoon couldn’t deny that these were his favourite mornings; Heeseung looked so pretty asleep and peaceful, Sunghoon loved everything about those mornings. They made him realise how lucky he’d been.
After over two decades of being sure his married life would be miserable and solitary, he was met with the complete opposite. He had many people he could trust and consider his friends; he could walk around as he pleased and owned more stuff than ever before in his life. Even though he trusted Sunoo and Euijoo, he could choose what to wear. He was free to speak and interact with whoever he wanted. He’d been taught things he’d never thought he’d be able to even read about. He’d fallen in love and was asked before any touch. Sunghoon had a life he’d never dared to dream about.
Heeseung had given that to him.
After he had talked to Heeseung about still wanting to be claimed, of actually wanting it, they started kissing more often. Not always as passionately as they had that night, but they’d shared more kisses since and it made Sunghoon feel giddy. His companions and their guards had been witnesses to it more than once and, even though it had only been a week, they were tired of them already. It wasn’t like they made out in front of others, that had only happened once and it had been an accident.
This new closeness with Heeseung, though, meant Sunghoon would long for his husband more openly and frequently whenever they couldn’t be together. Either because Heeseung was busy or because Sunghoon was busy. With Heeseung’s birthday ball coming up, Sunghoon had a lot of work to do. He was counting on spending Heeseung’s rut with him, so he wanted to have everything ready before that, just in case he couldn’t do much afterwards.
He should have known better than assuming Heeseung would simply agree to that. During Sunghoon’s heat, Heeseung hadn’t even touched him in any sexual ways. Sure, it might have been because of what had happened right before it, but Sunghoon wouldn’t have minded. Honestly, he’d been begging through the entire duration, so he may have felt slightly bad afterwards, but nothing he couldn’t get over. Not like Heeseung would ever make him go through something like that, evidently.
“But why not?” Sunghoon whined, he knew he sounded bratty but he did not care whatsoever.
“Because it’s a terrible idea,” Heeseung simply stated.
“But why? We’ve already agreed that we’ll mate, so why not during your rut?” Sunghoon reasoned. His logic, however, may have been flawed.
“I— Yes, we agreed to that,” Heeseung conceded. “But not during my rut, that’s too dangerous,” Heeseung explained, sounding just a little frustrated.
“It’s not dangerous, besides,” Sunghoon dismissed him, “you were with me for my heat.” Sunghoon was completely aware that the comparison was stupid, yet he didn’t know how else to convince Heeseung.
“Are you even—?” Heeseung had to stop before he lost it. “You don’t know what you are asking for—”
“Heeseung,” Sunghoon deadpanned, this time with good reason. “If there’s one thing I know, it’s how alphas’ ruts are. I was taught about them in detail, because I was supposed to please you through all of them.” Granted, he’d never spent a rut with any alphas, he had never had sex before, but theoretically, he knew what he’d be in front of.
“L-let’s talk about this again later,” Heeseung said, having been caught off guard by Sunghoon’s statement. Sunghoon thought it was funny how often Heeseung forgot what his life had been like before getting married to him. No matter how many stories he’d told him or how easy it was to compare his situation to Heeseung’s mother, he was always taken aback by it.
