I find looking ahead in my writing life to be just as valuable as looking back, and posting about it publicly has proved to be a useful accountability and motivation tool whenever I'm tempted to procrastinate. And so, this is the second chapter in my end-of-year update on what's happening on my Wattpad profile and beyond: my writing goals for 2024.

I hope this year will be a relatively quiet one. While I'm not working two jobs anymore, renovations will continue, and my energy level is likely to stay low. Because of this, I'm not shooting for a massive wordcount goal; matching previous years will be enough for me, and I'll aim to have no more than two books posting to Wattpad at any given time. Yes, I know that's still a lot. But I'm hoping to take a quick break from standalone novels on Wattpad after The Book of Miranda, and to post only my Kels series for a while (excluding ONC) while I turn my focus more to offline projects and those destined for Patreon.

What will that look like? This year, I plan to:

❖ Finish writing and posting The Book of Miranda

❖ Finish Sing to the Moon and begin the actual final book in the series, Water Will Rise. Try to post at least twice monthly (weekly preferred)

❖ Build back my chapter buffer on that series, which 2023 really took a toll on

❖ Participate in the Open Novella Contest, as per usual. I'll be limiting this to one novella again, unless inspiration strikes me

Maybe take another crack at my bucket list by writing a fully dual-genre Spec Fic / Romance in under 40k words... but I might enjoy Horror more 😝

❖ Finish and edit Rocks Can Dance (finally) to post on Patreon

❖ Finish Desert Epic book two (The Palace of Blood) and prepare for book three (The Land of Secrets)

❖ Sprint a decent chunk of book three in November 2024, maintaining what I hope to make into a new habit of NaNoWriMo craziness

❖ If inspiration strikes me and I need something else to do, write The Legend of the June Beetle, another fast-paced queer Horror novel, to post on Wattpad

❖ Keep up with my Patreon, and begin to announce it more publicly. Begin posting content for my popular Wattpad books there, once my exclusivity contract expires

❖ Pick up regular, weekly posting schedules for ongoing books again. I kind of fell off that bandwagon in 2023, and I do not enjoy falling behind like that

❖ Start posting in here again ✨

To be completely honest, I'd love to get my Kels series off my plate entirely (and be back to only one epic series) in 2024, but I don't imagine I'll have that kind of energy given everything else above. I'd like to find a healthy posting minimum that I can maintain without breaking my routine or burning out, and then I'd like to maintain it. Fingers crossed that 2024 will be less exhausting than its predecessor, so you might see me back in my own comments section again!
