I spun around, my heart racing, to see who had caught me. My eyes widened as I locked eyes with Macau. He stood there, his lips pursed in a thin line, observing me with a mixture of surprise and concern. It was as if he had caught me red-handed, and I couldn't help but feel a wave of nervousness wash over me.

"I forget the way," I stammered, desperately trying to come up with an excuse. "The maid didn't tell me where the dining hall is. I thought it was upstairs. In our house, it's always upstairs. I assumed it would be the same here."

I played dumb, shifting the blame onto others in a feeble attempt to avoid any repercussions. But his gaze remained fixed on me, his eyes wide with disbelief.

"Oh, I'm sorry," He responded, his voice tinged with understanding. "It's my mistake. I should have insisted that she give you proper directions." With a gentle smile, he motioned for me to follow him as he led the way to the dining hall.

As we walked, he turned to me with a concerned look on his face. "By the way, are you comfortable living with us?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine care.

I glanced around, taking in the grandeur of the place, before answering. "I'll get comfortable with you all pretty fast," I replied, my voice filled with a mix of uncertainty and curiosity.

I furrowed my brows, curiosity getting the better of me. "By the way, where is Vegas?" I asked, scanning the room in search of his familiar presence.

Macau shot me a mischievous smile, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Missed your husband?" he teased, a playful tone lacing her words.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes internally at his remark.

Who misses that bastard? Not me.

"No, I'm just asking," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant despite the irritation simmering beneath the surface.

He left early for work today," he informed me, a knowing smile playing on his lips.

Vegas glanced at his brother, raising an eyebrow. "Where is he?" he inquired. He slumped onto the couch in the living hall, rubbing his temples as if trying to alleviate a brewing headache.

Macau couldn't resist teasing him further. "Missed your husband?" he taunted, a mischievous glint in his eyes. Vegas let out a sigh, standing up and preparing to make his way toward his room.

Macau let out a deep sigh, his voice filled with concern. "He doesn't seem alright, take care of him," he said, his words carrying the weight of her worry. Everyone could see through the facade, that Pete seemed uncomfortable, trying to hide whatever was bothering him.

Vegas paused in his tracks, glancing back at the Macau. There was a momentary silence before he nodded his head in understanding. Without saying a word, he continued on his way.

As Macau muttered to himself, his voice tinged with relief and a hint of mystery. "By the way, today your secret was about to blow, but I came just in time. I can't even imagine what would have happened if I hadn't."
