Isabella's voice remained steady, her determination shining through. "It's the truth, Pete. I found out the day you married Vegas. But when Anderson discovered that I knew the truth, he imprisoned me in his basement for an entire month. I managed to escape just a day ago, and now I'm in New York."
"Isabella, this is... I can't even begin to comprehend it," I managed to say, my voice filled with a mix of confusion and anger. The weight of the truth hung heavy in the air, suffocating me with its implications.
"I understand, Pete. It's a lot to take in," Isabella replied, her voice filled with empathy. "But I needed to tell you, to protect you. Anderson is dangerous, and he won't stop until he eliminates anyone who knows the truth."
I felt a surge of determination coursing through my veins. I couldn't let Anderson get away with this. I owed it to my father's memory to uncover the truth and seek justice. "Isabella, I'll do whatever it takes to bring Anderson to justice. I won't rest until he pays for what he's done."
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and I could almost hear Isabella's contemplation. "Pete, I believe you. But you need to be careful. Anderson has eyes everywhere. If you come to New York, we can strategize and find a way to expose him without putting ourselves in more danger."
Her words resonated with me, and I knew she was right. I needed to approach this situation with caution. "Alright, Isabella. I'll make my way to New York. We'll meet up and figure out our next move. Just promise me you'll stay safe until then."
"I promise, Pete. We'll get through this together," Isabella assured me, her voice filled with determination and a hint of relief. "I'll send you the details of where we can meet once you're here. Just remember, we're in this together."
As I hung up the phone, a whirlwind of emotions swept through me. The truth had been laid bare, and the road ahead was uncertain.
"Why'd you ditch me without answering?" Vegas growled, his eyes flicking from me to the phone in my grasp.
"Who you talkin' to?" Vegas asked his voice rising as he snatched my phone away.
"Ain't none of your damn business," I snapped back, reclaiming my phone from his grip.
"Pete quit bein' stubborn. Hand it over nice 'n easy, or I can find other ways," he declared, giving me a piercing glare.
I shot him a defiant glare of my own. What's the point of keepin' up this charade when I already know Vegas didn't kill my father?
Time to drop the act and make my way to New Yoyk.
"Pete, you listenin'?" Vegas demanded, trying to pry my phone from my hands.
I chucked my phone out the window, rolling my eyes before striding into the room, rummaging through my stuff for my passport, gun, and all the essentials I needed leave to for the country. Clothes flew everywhere as I desperately searched for my Passport.
Damn, where the hell did it go?
"Back the fuck off, will ya? I don't need your nosy in my business," I snapped, shooting a glance over my shoulder to catch Vegas, his teeth clenched in frustration.
As I turned my attention back to the closet, my heart skipped a beat when I felt his strong presence behind me. His body pressed against mine, sending a jolt of electricity through my veins.
"I had no idea you'd drop your act so damn fast," Vegas said, his voice dripping with a mixture of amusement. I couldn't help but widen my eyes in disbelief, my head quickly turning back to the closet to hide my expression.
"You know? From when?"
My words mumbled into the darkness, facing the closet, but my actions froze as I felt him pressing his body against mine. The heat of his breath brushed against my ear, his voice sending shivers down my spine.
"Even before we got damn married," he whispered, his words laced with a fiery intensity. I could feel the heat radiating off his body as he pressed himself against me.
"If you knew why the hell you married to me, why the fuck did you still marry me?" I questioned, my voice filled with a mix of confusion.
