CHAPTER 16

The drivers gather around in the lobby. Most of them look nervous and slightly worried. The only emotion you can read from Daniel's face is panic. And Mika, who is the father of many problem-children, is just terrified.

"Okay, we split up in the usual pairings!" Danny says and Seb opens his mouth to protest but Mika hisses "I swear to God Vettel, fucking go with him and search for Rosberg. This is not the tiniest bit about you so you will be paired up with Kimi like always and I don't wanna hear anything after it." Seb closes his mouth again and nods.

"Okay, we have places where he might be. He once said that if he's killing himself, he's jumping. Here aren't any treinstations so we wrote down all the bridges and chances where he could jump." Jenson says and gives everyone a little paper with their location.

"We will stay here and guide you a bit when you need help and Romain's trying to hack Nico's watch and phone to get his location. We need to hurry but don't forget to look somewhere because of that, understood?" He explains further and the rest nods.

They run outside and shortly after, Lewis comes into the lobby. He just sits down and stares to the ground. When Romain sees Lewis phone, he decides to quickly hack it too. It doesn't take him long, not even two minutes, to get access to the Brits phone. The more he reads, the more he understands Lewis.

"You chose the wrong way buddy." He says, his eyes fix on the other one. He than tries to hack Nico's watch. It takes him a little bit over 30 seconds and he shortly afterwards has the location. He sends it into the group chat and looks at the landscape.

"Where is he?" Asks Jenson curious and looks over to his boyfriend. "At a bridge. Below it is a river, but it hasn't got much flow. His watch is still working, but I think it's waterproof. Just pray that they can talk him out of it. I also wrote Danny your Reasons for all of this Lewis. It doesn't excuse your actions but maybe it helps him." Romain explains to the two men.

"Are you okay darling?" Asks Jenson gently and Romain nods. "Don't lie, it doesn't suit you." Jense says and the Swiss sighs. "C'mere." Jenson smiles and Romain mumbles "But people." The older one raises his eyebrows "I don't care about them." Romain starts to smile and makes himself comfortable on his boyfriends lap, snuggling up to him immediately.

"I wish I was brave enough for that. I'm not even brave enough to tell my own father that I'm gay." Lewis whispers and Jenson softly says "And Nico understands that eventually. But you have to open up to him." Lewis sniffles a few times and then asks "How's it going with them?"

Well, Danny is sprinting to the location. He's never been running this fast in his life. He and Mika will both arrive there and the other drivers will look, that no one else is coming in their way.

"Nico..." He whispers and looks at the man in front of him. "I'm sorry Danny." Nico swallows and turns his head away from the Australian who happens to be his best friend. "Please, step away from the edge." Daniel sniffles and Nico looks over to him sadly.

"Please, don't do that to yourself Ricci. It's not worth it. I'm not worth it." The German says. Danny looks over to him in shock. "Don't say that Nicci. Please. Don't do it. There is still hope!" Daniel tries to get through to him. "Really? The man I thought I could trust, one of the only persons I ever trusted 100% destroyed me. Down to the last detail."

"He loves you. God, he loves you more than anyone ever could. And yes, it doesn't excuse his actions but all he did was trying to protect you. And I know that this sounds crazy and it will either make it worse or I will get you away from this edge but Lewis did it because he loves you. Hell, this man is as dead inside as you are. You know, he received messages. And these messages had an impact on him, it's crazy. But please, he did because he couldn't live without you. Yes, I hate him at the moment but he thought it was the right thing. Please Nico, step back." Danny begs his best friend.

Nico shakes his head and whispers "Sorry." Danny doesn't think at the moment, he simply can't. He steps beside Nico and says "If you jump, I will jump with you!" Nico looks at him shocked. "You can't do that!" He says and Daniel replies "I can and I do!"

Nico kicks Danny in the back of the knee, causing the younger boy's legs to buckle forwards. Nico seizes the opportunity and jumps, Danny right behind him.

"Nico! Daniel!" Mika yells in horror and runs to the edge. "Oh no no no no no!" Hr mumbles, panicking. Not only did he fail to help his son, his best friends son jumped right behind him. He stares into the water, hoping for a miracle.

With a gasp pops Daniel's head out of the water, Nico's shortly following. "I've got him!" The Red Bull Racing driver yells. "Are you two okay?" Mika yells back, worried. "Yeah, but he's unconscious. Don't call an ambulance, I have it under control!" Danny shouts to Mika who does a thumbs-up.

Daniel had pushed Nico's head under the water until he lost consciousness. As the blonde was wriggling terribly and Daniel wouldn't have been able to save him otherwise, it was necessary. He swims to the shore with his friend and climbs out of the water. Nico had already been picked up by Valtteri and Kevin.

"Jeez, I'm freezing man!" He mumbles and Max gives him a blanket. "Ah, my savor Maximus!" He says and looks over to Nico. "How is he?" He asks and Kevin replies "He's waking up."

"Nico?" He asks softly. "Danny? Are we dead? Alive? Something between?" The older one asks back. "Alive." Danny mumbles and Nico sighs. "Come on, get up Rose. Go and hug your dad, cry as much as you want, cuddle up to him in a warm blanket while we bring you home." The Aussi smiles gently. "Home? Lewis is home."
