Twenty One

🍷Dani's POV🍷

Rick drives behind us in the cop cruiser until we arrive at a farm where he got a horse, horses are valuable right now since they don't need gas like cars do. That father and son duo, they didn't want anything to do with us so they quickly left while Rick stocked us up on the station at the police station with guns and ammo. Violet and Felix went back to Carrington Manor while I'm with Demetri in the truck.

"How sure of you that they are still human?" I ask Demetri, Demetri can't track the dead but that's the thing with these zombies...they aren't fully dead so we don't know if this Lori or Carl are alive alive or alive dead.

"We'll see when we see" Demetri says, Demetri begins to drive up a mountain and we see multiple humans "guess they are human" getting out of the truck, one of the humans points a shotgun at us and Demetri puts his body before mine in an instant.

"Who the hell are you two?" The shot gun demands

"Dad!" A little boy screams, Rick dismounts from the horse and goes over to the boy getting to his knees pulling him to his arms "Mom!" The boy screams, we see a woman rush out. She has long brown hair, dark eyes, sand colored skin and a shocked expression on her face.  The boy is a mix between the two with dark hair and dark eyes with sand colored skin.

"Carl!" Rick cries holding him close before going towards the woman who is frozen before jumping into his arms.

"Your Danika Carrington" a teenager says looking at me, she has blonde hair and blue eyes with sand colored skin. Most of the people here have sand and lighter color skin. Few of them have darker skin tones ranging from tan and darker.

"Swan" correcting her as the guy with the shot gun holds it to us "and are you going to keep pointing that thing at us or what?"

"Shane lower the weapon" Rick orders "they helped me"

"Why are his eyes red and why is he sparkling in the sun like some sort of disco ball?" He demands and when Demetri took a step forward he orders "Stay back or I'll shoot"

"Go ahead" Demetri taunts "I dare you"

Walking closer, this Shane shoots and when the bullets just fall doing nothing to Demetri the human drops his gun "Now that was a waste of bullets" I jump up onto the hood of the truck crossing one leg over the other.

Demetri picks up the guns and checks how many bullets is left, shaking his head "for an ex cop, you sure are stupid"

"Which one of you is the leader?" I ask looking around

"I guess" an old man with a hat and camping like clothes on comes forward raising his hand "that would be me...I'm Dale"

"Dani" shaking his hand "look, it's safe at Carrington Manor for the moment. More than rooms for everyone here,  if you want to come your welcome to"

"Really?" He asks

"Now wait!" That Shane objects "how do we know we can trust them and what the hell is this one?"

"Demetri's a vampire" I say

"A what?" He looks at Demetri who is unaffected by him "we can't go with them, they could be luring us in to kill us and"

"We" Demetri shakes his head "don't need to kill any of you humans, besides see my red eyes? Means I'm full, I'm not starving. If it was black then you should be worried"

"I trust them Lori" Rick looks to his wife

"Is it really safe at Carrington Manor?" Dale asks me
