Twenty Four

"Your baby is healthy from what I can hear" Lori looks my way as she and Rick sit by Carl's side, Rick is holding Lori who has been crying.

"He wouldn't be alive if it weren't for you" Rick tells me

I stop as I was looking at Carl's pupils, I was checking them but now I'm looking at the couple realizing they don't know. Pulling away from Carl "I wasn't talking about Carl" they stare at me "I meant the baby growing inside of Lori"

"What?" Lori asks as Rick looks at her "What baby?"

Crossing my arms "When was the last time you bled?" She's silent as I ask her this "I may not have an ultrasound machine but I can hear the baby, it's heart is beating strong and fast. I'll leave you alone" leaving the room going down to the porch seeing Dani feed Katherine while Jamie and Julia outside running around.

"How's Carl?" Dani asks as I sit down next to her, wrapping my around around her shoulder.

"This is what I pictured for us" not answering her question since she knows, she heard me "us living in a nice house with the kids playing in the backyard while you fed our little one" she looks up at me "though I imagined the baby being breast fed and your belly swollen but beggars can't be choosers"

She huffs out a laugh shaking her head, looking out into the field "This is nice, how serene and beautiful it all is...how untouched it is by technology" Hershel walks over to his home, he's going to allow us to stay here until Carl is better then we are leaving "you have a beautiful home"

He nods his head "Thank you"

"In three days time" he looks at me "Carl should be well enough for us to leave, thank you for allowing him to rest here and gain his strength back"

"Of course" he nods his head heading inside the house, Dani lays her head on my shoulder smiling to the kids who are in the grass now relaxing. This is a beautiful scene, not the land and how it's untouched by technology but by being with my mate and new children.

"I just realized something" Dani laughs "we promised my dad no kids until after marriage, we aren't even married yet"

"Fine" shrugging my shoulders "in the power vested in me by some website I was on" she raised an eyebrow "I pronounce us husband and wife, I'm now kissing me bride" she holds her hand up that my lips are on her palm.

"Since when did you get ordained?" She asks

"Since the day I met you" pulling away from her "and I had a feeling your dad was going to be a hard ass...so here we are married. Now your dad can't complain about us having kids"

The door opens and it's Lori, she looks at me "The baby...you said it's healthy?"

Nodding my head yes "But I wouldn't know more unless I do an ultrasound and we have an ultrasound machine in Carrington Estate...we've got a lot of medical equipment just in case"

"You" she motions to Dani "you once said how you'll be moving out, that Carrington Estate wasn't a permanent thing? What...what did you mean?"

"Um..." she looks at me then to her "what I meant was that in a few months we'd pack up and move north to Virginia"

"And" she asks "would it be permanent? Like what is going on?"

"It would be a permanent thing" she nods her head "first we'd have to get some stone, enough bricks to be placed around the wall of the city, we'd also need to figure out how the houses would be constructed...there's a lot to go over that something like this will take at least a year of planning and another year of preparation. What we do know is that there is a nearby prison that we can go to and get the bricks and different materials from" also the walkers there? We can gather them up and begin draining them of blood and the witches can turn the contaminated blood into good uncontaminated blood. Plus we can get out the livers, eyes, kidneys, bones, there are many things we can do with the walkers.

Lori nods her head before looking at me "Um...with Carl I needed a c section"

"I'll do what I can to make sure you and your child lives" she nods her head heading back inside, looking down to Dani she shrugs her shoulders.

We see Demetri appear then "Um" he looks to the baby then to the others "where did the children come from?"

"We're adopting" Dani holds her arm around "and got married!"

He scratched the back of his head looking at the baby then to the two kids then to me "Okay...I'm going to take this in later" waving to us "but first where's Sophia?"

We share a confused look "What do you mean?" Dani asks

"I tracked Sophia to here" he looks around the place "so where is she?"

"She's not here" shaking my head at him, the door opens and it's Shane "Shane can even confirm"

"Confirm what?" He asks looking at Demetri "Did you find Sophia?" I told them how Sophia went missing some time ago and that we've been looking for her, Demetri has been looking for her but her trail was spotty.

"That's why I'm here" he say "I tracked her here, so it's why I'm asking"

"She's not here man" shaking his head "maybe you got it wrong"

"Demetri" I assure Shane "never gets these things wrong...let's ask Hershel? Maybe he's seen her" getting up, we head inside to where Hershel is cutting up the potatoes.

He looks our way "Who is this?"

"This is my brother Demetri" introducing the two "Demetri this is Hershel, Demetri tracked down this little girl we've been looking for to your farm. Her mother is worried sick"

"Do you mind if we look around?" Demetri asks

Hershel nods his head "Just don't go near the barn"

"But what if she's in the barn?" He asks

Hershel is silent "I have been generous with letting that boy rest up here, I haven't made too much of an issue but I am ordering you to stay away from the barn!"

"What's going on here?" Rick comes into the room

"Sophia is supposedly somewhere on the farm" Shane informs him "we're being told to stay away from the barn but why would you react so badly?"

Demetri and I share a look before looking at Rick "Get your boy ready for transportation, he can recover in the car" we run out of the house and toward the barn, once we find a way inside we see a bunch of walkers everywhere.

Leaving the barn going to Hershel and the others, I have Dani get into the truck "I mean it Dani, don't argue with me" looking for Jaime and Julia, when I see the kids going towards the barn I quickly stop them "Julia, Jaime were going home" picking them up and running them to the truck, I set them in the back.
