Day -6 on Survivor Island
*Greetings From Your Host*
Welcome to Days Survivor: Smith Island! As you familiarize yourself with the surrounding trees and camera equipment (that guy with the bushy beard is Bob the CameraMan - don't worry, he's not as creepy as he looks...so long as you keep him away from caffeine and blondes), listen closely to the calls of nature. Hear that? Hear that haunting melody that sounds like natives chanting? You don't? Well, listen harder. Now do you hear it? Still no? Fine. Just imagine it then. That nifty little song going through your head is our theme song. Very Survivorish, ain't it?
As you arrive on the island, you will be divided rather randomly into two tribes: Tribe 1 and Tribe 2. Don't like our Tribe names? Get together with the rest of your team and pick a new one. Just be sure to let us know so we can emblazon it on all things Days Survivor: Smith Island. Each team will also receive a box of supplies to set up a camp and to make island life a little more like home.
Gameplay itself is rather simple and works on a three-day cycle. The first day of each cycle is a day for inter-tribal gameplay. Form alliances, get a little further into your tribe-mates' minds, work out your strategy, and make confessionals. If the producers have a chance, there may be occasional reward challenges to complete on this first day where one tribe may walk away with something to make their stay on the island a little more pleasant. On the second day, there will be an Immunity Challenge posted. Teams will have that day to compete for immunity. Whoever loses the Immunity Challenge will proceed to Tribal Council on the third day, where they will vote off one tribe member. Then, the whole process repeats.
Just remember:
Day One: Confessionals, Inter-team Game Play, maybe a Reward Challenge
Day Two: Immunity Challenge, more Confessionals
Day Three: Tribal Council
And...it all happens here, on the Days Survivor: Smith Island blog!Half-way through gameplay, the remaining members of the two tribes will merge and form a new tribe. At that point, all reward challenges and immunity challenges will become a competition between individuals, rather than between teams, but the premise and the three-day cycle remains the same.
The goal of the game is simple (and trademarked by the real Survivor people, I'm sure): Outwit, Outplay, Outlast. Use your sense of strategy, your play on other people, and your own Salem-esque perseverance to survive Tribal Councils and, ultimately, to walk away with the big prize (as of yet to be determined, but surely there will be one, won't there?).
If you need any help while you're on the island...well....you're survivors. You're stranded. But there's always Bob the CameraGuy and me, Your Occasionally-Appearing Host, The Big BadAss. Bob's really only there for confessionals, though. He doesn't know a whole lot in the way of gameplay. You can, however, if you do run into a problem you don't seem to be able to fix. Blogger can sometimes be a fickle thing, after all.
With all of that in one pile of puddy, I welcome you again to Smith Island. Enjoy your stay, watch your backs, and good luck in the game!
