"We have officers moving from district to district all the time, so it's not uncommon for us to have unidentified officers working here from time to time." The man explained. Hitch and I looked at each other with a panicked expression but also with a look of relief. "So what do we do from now?" I asked. "Well now, you two can go back to your rooms and relax for the rest of the day. We have special meals planned for you tonight as an apology for what you two must have gone through tonight." Captain Dorie explained. Hitch and I looked at each other again and walked back into the barracks. "Does my face look bad?" I asked Hitch. She stopped me and looked at my face for a few seconds. "Will Annie want to kill someone after seeing your face? No. Will she want you to be alone after this? Also no. But, do you still look super handsome? Yes." She said. "Better not let Annie ever hear you say that." I said. "She scares me." Hitch whispered. "Annie's like an angry TeddyBear. She's harmless... well... mostly." I said. "Well of course you don't find her scary, you've seen her boobs more times than I've seen her face." Hitch said with a crumpled face. I stopped and looked at her and thought "I've actually never seen her boobs before." "You have seen her boobs before?" Hitch asked. "Yeah... yeah of course I have." I lied trying to sound cool. "Y/N, I have a very good bullshit detector, and I know you're lying." She said with sly smile. "Anyway, here's my room. Byeeeee" she said slithering into her room. "Why is she so strange?" I wondered. I walked back to my room and walked over to the bathroom to finally have a look at my face. My nose was purple and blue and the area at the bottom of my right eye was also purple. "Jesus, he really pushed the crap out of me." I said touching my nose. "Ow! Damn." I yelled. "Annie's going to treat me like a child." I said taking my clothes off and getting into the shower. I turned the heat up and stood there for about 30 seconds before I realised there was no hot water... "Great... just great..." I said to myself. "There's a hotel near here?" I wondered. Luckily all of our rooms have maps of the city. I looked around the room until I eventually found the map plastered to the back of the main door. And luckily there was one about 100 meters from the barracks, so I did what any normal person would do and grabbed my clothes and went off to take a shower in what I hoped was a luxury hotel. I made it out of the barracks by the time some people were making it back, also looking dirty and bruised. I made it over to the street where the hotel was located.
"Good evening sir, how may I help you?" She asked.
"Hi, may I have a room, just for tonight please?" I asked. "Why of course, we have a few ready now? Which one would you like?" She asked. "What's the most affordable one you have? I'm pretty much going for a shower and leaving right after." I said. "It's on the bottom floor, down the corridor, now how will you be paying?" She asked. I took the money out of my pocket and handed it to her. "Thank you sir, enjoy your stay at the Gloria Hotel." She said with a smile. I looked down at my keys and it said Room 23. I walked through the corridor and eventually found room 23. It was actually nicer than what we had at the barracks, but I quickly ran over to the shower.I left the hotel, finally nice and clean but still with my face looking like I just got done with a bar fight. When I came back it was pretty much dark so I made my way back pretty quickly, since I didn't want to run into any rippers on my way back to the barracks. Upon entering I made my way to the chow hole since I was having a good meal tonight. Upon entering the chow hole, it was loud and busy as per usual. A bunch of faces I recognise and just as many that I don't. I looked over the room for either Hitch, Jason or Annie but I couldn't find them, but my stomach grumbles were getting the best of me, so I went to the table and said who I was, they led me over and gave me a beautiful plate of steak and chips. "Medium rare." The chef said. "If I was gay, I'd marry you." I said looking at how amazing the food was, and totally summoning my inner Sasha. "Good thing you agree with Medium rare, your friend was here earlier, and she wanted well done." He explained. "And then what happened?" I asked. "I asked her politely but firmly to leave, and I'm asking you to do the same." He said. I grabbed my plate and thanked him. I looked around for an empty table and luckily there was one on the far left of the room. I sat down and started to cut a slice off my steak before I see a hand at then speed of light come through and grab one of my chips, I look over to see who would commit such an unforgiving act, and I see Annie sitting down next to me. "Hey." She said sitting down next to me and giving me a wink while she put the chip in her mouth. "Haven't seen you all day, I heard what happened from Hitch." She continued. "Yeah... one hell of a first day." I said taking a bite from my steak. Annie grabbed another few chips. I stopped chewing to look at her. "What? I'm making sure it's not poisoned." She said with a mouth half full of chips. "Wait... Y/N. Look at me." She said moving my face. She held my head to see the bruises on my face. "Who did this to you? Surly not one of those thugs?" She asked with a very concerned look. "No, well... yes, I guess." I said. "What kind of a response is that? Either it was or wasn't?" She said. "It was Hitch's guy, he slammed my head into a wall." I explained. "So it was one of them. Next time this happens and I'm with you, and something like this happens, I can engulf him in flames when I turn one of my limbs into a titan limb." She explained. "She can do that?" I wondered. "Hush." I said eluding to the people near me. "Sorry." She whispered with a smile. "Listen, I have something to tell you. This Saturday, I'm going to be out on some personal things... it's something that I need to do alone, and I'm leaving on Friday night, I just wanted to tell you." She said wrapping her arms around mine and squeezing it. "Yeah that's cool, take all the time you need, if you need I can cover your shifts. I said. "No, it's fine, Hitch said she would and Jason volunteered as well. He's cool, I like him." She said letting go. "Yeah, he is cool, I'm glad he's my roommate. "Well then go marry him then." She said trying to sound jealous. "You know that doesn't sound half bad." I said before she punched me in the arm. "You and me? Till death do us part." She said softly. Annie realised what she said, "I'm sorry. This is still a touchy subject for you." She said wrapping her arms around mine again. "It's okay." I said trying not to think about what she said, this whole only having 6 years left to live is something I've been struggling with ever since she told me. Annie and I sat there for a few minutes in awkward silence before Hitch came in and created a loud enough noise for Annie and I to start talking again. "Annie has been looking all over for you, where were you?" She asked. "Oh has she now?" I said looking at her with a smile. "Well you did disappear for half the afternoon." She explained finally taking another chip. "Hitch. Why didn't you tell me about Y/N's face?" She turned to ask her. "I told you what you needed to know, and the most important thing was obligated to tell." She said looking absolutely terrified. "Well next time I ask what happened with you and Y/N, I want the full story, not a short partly construed story that saves your ass" Annie said sounding annoyed. "It's okay, next time we won't be following undercover criminals to what may be their base of operations or a rivals base of operations." I said to Annie. I yawned looking over to the clock just above the door. It was 9:30 pm. With that I gave Annie a kiss on the cheek and headed to bed.
