"Ari, how'd your first day go at that new station?" she linked her arms with mine and there we were gossiping like a couple of sisters. "It was okay, nothing too special." she stops walking to look me dead in the face, she knows when I lie, she's the only one besides my brothers who can read me like a book. "It was uh interesting, they're pretty close to one another, one of them has a vendetta against me. I would be pissed too if put on medical leave and I was fine enough to go back. But Buck is something else, you remember that Eddie guy?" she nods her head, "he works there and so does Buck." she starts laughing. "Some luck you have, wait so who's the asshole buck or Eddie?"

"Buck, he started getting on my ass once he found out I was filling in for him and I might have given him a piece of my mind." shopping bags filled our hands, making us tired, I drive her back to my apartment. "That's my girl, they're super hot ya know, Buck is... wow." I gag and she lightly hits my arm. "Excuse me, Ms Serena, remember YOU have a boyfriend, Brandon. You're crazy if you think I would ever date Evan Buckley, I haven't even thought of dating in general."

"Not every guy you let into your life is punk ass bitch, I know you deserve more, your brothers know it too. But who knows a certain firefighter may change that." just the thought of dating gives me the shivers, my last relationship didn't end well. He swore he loved me until he saw the scars on my body, and called them disgusting. Those scars were endured by my horrible father, but he didn't care, I was 21 now I'm 25.

"my god, that's the biggest damn fire, I've ever seen." Chimney sarcastically looks up at the tall building that has a so-called fire. "I hate fire drills. Hen made it abundantly clear while I helped her with the fire hydrant, she was pretty easy to talk to, which I kinda enjoyed. "City mandates we do'em every three years, can't fight city hall on that without losing our jobs."  There was no fire, I felt like I was a school again doing fire drills but I was on the opposite side of the tracks, this time as a firefighter.

"The first alarm was triggered at 12:20, call came in 30 seconds later. Boots down, hoses out by 12:43." Captain Nash checks his clipboard, I'm not surprised Buckley isn't out here with it
"That's what?" Eddie questions the captain. "Four minutes our allotted response time." Chimney takes charge of the hose and starts pulling it out of the truck "Ouch that's gonna cost us some points."

"Someone's gonna have to explain that to the new fire marshal." They all look at me and I put my hands up, "he's here? don't look at me, I'll do it if you want us to lose all our points." Buckley appears out of nowhere and follows Captain Nash inside, he is holding onto that clipboard real tight, it's going to end up in the trash by me soon enough.

"There was a stalled bus blocking both directions on Grand. Vehicles couldn't clear a path which delayed our arrival." Cap explains that to Buck, trying to get him to drop the damn clipboard. "And yet the 144 managed a response time in under six minutes. That's a full 17 minutes ahead of the 118. See cap if I was on that truck I would've found a way to get here faster but no you want the new girl." Nash soon starts to get tired of his antics, constantly talking down on Cruz. "The 144 is five blocks away."
