*Third Person's POV*"Do you want to stay for a movie?"
If Y/N knew the air was going to be so awkward afterwards, she wouldn't have suggested the option to Jennie.
The same could be said about the idol, too. She wouldn't have agreed to Y/N's suggestion if she realised how nervous she was going to be around the tall girl.
As the movie started rolling on the TV, both girls found it really difficult to focus on it. It was as if they suddenly got conscious that it was just them in the house. However, swallowing the tension they felt, the girls decided to stay focused on the movie until Y/N started to fall asleep because of the effects of the medicines.
The tall girl's head slowly fell onto the idol's shoulders, and Jennie froze in her seat. But she didn't move. She sat there fidgeting, not knowing what to do. But a part of Jennie felt content. Like she just filled a big gap in her heart.
It felt nice for her to be with Y/N after so long. The tall girl was still the person who could make Jennie's heart feel at home easily.
They must have sat like that for around an hour before Jennie felt water drops falling onto her hand. She realised it was Y/N's tears.
"Y/N? Are you crying?" The idol asked softly. But the tall girl was still asleep. "Y/N? Hey, Y/N?" She called again, tapping on Y/N's hands.
"Yeah, yeah." Y/N woke up startled. "Oh! I am so sorry. I fell asleep." She apologised, realising she had fallen asleep on the cat-eyed girl.
"No. That's okay. But... you were crying." Jennie said in concern, staring at Y/N's tear-streaked face.
"Oh– oh! I... I was?" Y/N mumbled, touching her face to check the tears, and she wiped them.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah," Y/N muttered unsurely at first. "Yeah, yeah! I– it's– it's normal for me. This has been happening to me since childhood." She said, getting up from the couch.
"Where are you going?" Jennie asked, frowning as she, too, got up.
"Kitchen. I need some tea."
"I will do it. You can rest."
"No, that's okay. My leg is a lot better now. Thanks to you." Y/N assured, slightly limping to the kitchen.
Jennie clicked her tongue, following the girl. She stood behind the tall girl, leaning against the island, watching her back.
"Y/N?" The tall girl hummed. "Why... why were you crying in your sleep?"
Y/N stood silent for a few seconds.
"If it's something you are not comfortable sharing with me, then–"
"No, no. There's nothing like that." The tall girl objected, turning around to face the idol. "I, uh, it all started when I was fourteen. I had an accident. Actually, I was knocked out in a fight." She chuckled. "I was unconscious for three days. When I woke up... I couldn't remember the past four years of my life. The doctor said I have Retrograde Dissociative Amnesia."
Jennie covered her mouth. "W– what?"
Y/N smiled. "When they asked me how old I was... I told them I them I was ten. Everything that happened in between... is blank for me." She turned back to boil the water for tea, and tears started to fall down the cat-eyed girl's eyes. "Ever since then, I have been getting this dream... a weird one where... where there's this girl whose name or face I can't recognise... is walking away from me. I am just... standing there... watching her leave in tears. I wanted to stop her but– but I couldn't. And she just... she just disappeared. It just hurts."
Y/N paused briefly, swallowing hard. She continued, not realising Jennie was silently crying behind her. "I was in therapy for a while. The doctor said my brain must be trying to remember someone. But when I forced my memories... I would have these extreme headaches, so eventually, I stopped trying to remember her."
"So... you still–" Jennie croaked out.
Y/N shook her head with a sigh. "I still don't know who she's or what happened between us. And I don't know whether I will ever remember her or not." She said and turned around, making her heart drop.
"Jennie? What happened?"
The cat-eyed girl looked torn. She couldn't understand what was going through her mind.
The unfamiliarity in Y/N's, her innocent smile towards her, the initial formal way of addressing, the hospitality in her attitude — it was all because Y/N didn't remember who Jennie was. The idol was realising it now.
It was too much for Jennie that she couldn't help her tears.
"Jen? Hey! What's wrong?" Y/N asked again, holding the short girl's tears.
Jennie stared intently into Y/N's eyes. The latter looked concerned. It broke Jennie even more, especially after Y/N just confessed that her leaving had hurt her, even though she doesn't remember anything.
"Y/N!" Jennie called softly, falling into her arms. The tall girl panicked but held the girl closer. "I am sorry, Y/N. I am sorry."
"Hey! Why would you apologise?"
Even Jennie didn't know why exactly she was apologising. But she could only get those words out of her mouth as Y/N held her against her warmth. Only those words felt right.
Y/N pulled away and wiped her tears. "You have nothing to apologise for, Jennie. I don't mind you asking me questions about myself. And I definitely didn't mind sharing it with you. So, you don't have to feel sorry."
Jennie didn't know what to say. She just didn't know how to tell that tall girl that she was the nameless, faceless girl in Y/N's dreams.
She just didn't.
"I... I will go now." Jennie said abruptly, walking past the tall girl. She quickly grabbed her things and walked out without sparing Y/N another look, leaving the latter worried. And confused.
