*Third Person's POV*"And the love of my life," confessed Jennie.
The reporters murmured, their questions, voices, overlapping, making it difficult to construct anything out of it.
"Please–" Jennie interjected. "Please let me finish."
The correspondents immediately shut up as if a teacher entered a chaotic classroom.
"Yes! Y/N and I– we– we love each other. We have always... been in love with each other. She's my first love. The one person who stood by me whenever I felt the world around me was collapsing even before I became BLACKPINK's Jennie." Jennie couldn't stop the tears at this point.
"I– I know– many of you consider this wrong– a phase– even a choice... but– but let me tell you, it's none of that. It's who I am. And being in love with her is the most righteous thing I have felt in my entire life."
"I kept my sexuality within me as if it was a crime, fearing what I will lose and how others will judge me. My fear almost took me to a point where I lost Y/N forever, but I won't make the same mistake again."
"Jennie, do you think people will support you?" One guy asked from behind.
The idol sighed deeply.
"I don't know. But this isn't about anyone else. It's about me embracing what I really am," said Jennie, determined. "And I know the people who love me and want my happiness will support me. That's what truly matters."
"You know that most people in South Korea still think same-sex relationships as taboo. Do you fear it will affect your career?"
Jennie smiled. "I believe in hard work. My sexuality has nothing to do with the music we make. And I don't plan on stopping doing that. Even if I could bring a change in one person with my music, that's all I would want."
"Jennie, do you think more people in KPOP will now feel strong enough to come out with your revelation?"
The cat-eyed girl remembered her girlfriend's words.
'a generation will look up to you one day, Baby.'
"I sure hope so."
It took Jennie another ten or fifteen minutes to wrap up the whole thing, but even as she was leaving, the reporters were not leaving her back, wanting to get into the spicy details of her newfound relationship.
Her guards were trying their best to keep the mics out of the way, but before Jennie could get into the van, her eyes darted to the entrance, on the tall girl who was hurriedly getting out of the cab.
Their eyes met. Glossy and hopeful.
twenty minutes before...
Y/N was walking down the streets, her head covered in black hood, hanging down, and red, puffy eyes with a look of lost hope.
Lately, all she had been doing was counting seconds, minutes she had been spending apart from Jennie. At least, that kept her mind from overthinking or overanalyzing things. She preferred to think that this was just temporary. That Jennie was just away on another work related thing, and she would turn up before her anytime, showing off her gummy smile and sparkling feline eyes, hugging Y/N tightly till she's out of breath.
But every night, the moment when Y/N crawled into the bed, inside the comfort of her blanket, her tears would betray her.
It was hard when she was willing to fight, but she had to give up even before she got a chance. It was even more painful for her to know that Jennie would be suffering, too.
She selfishly wished that things would have been easy if Jennie was a bad person. She could have convinced herself then to move on. But that wasn't the case either.
Y/N didn't know where her legs were taking her. She was absent-mindedly walking, as if it would help her walk away from all the pain and suffering.
But she stopped when she heard her girlfriend's name being mentioned somewhere.
It was one of those home appliance stores with high-resolution televisions on display, playing various channels.
Y/N eyes were fixed on only one of them. The one with Jennie on it. Her feline orbs held a sea of sadness.
The tall girl swallowed hard. For the past few days, her only source to know how Jennie was doing had been the girls, and seeing her on TV felt like real. As if Jennie was standing before her, head hanging down guiltily, looking the same way she did before she said she wanted to break up.
"So, what's the truth about your relationship with Y/N?"
The elongated silence from Jennie at the beginning gave the tall girl some hope.
What if—
"She is my best friend."
Never mind. Y/N sighed. Her eyes tingled with a similar sensation to burst out into tears.
She was about to turn back and leave when—
"And the love of my life."
Y/N turned back instantly. Jennie was looking straight at the camera, almost as if she was looking at her. The tall girl sobbed, her lips curving into a painful smile, quivering.
She wanted to see Jennie. She had to.
Y/N phished out her phone, walking away from the television into the busy streets to look for a taxi. She called Lisa.
The three girls were sitting the dorm, watching the cat-eyed girl on TV, equally happy and relieved with the choice Jennie made when Lisa's phone rang.
"Y/N? What happened?" The Thai girl picked up on the second ring.
"Do you– do you know where Jennie is meeting the reporters?"
There was a long hum of confusion on the other side.
"Yeah– yeah, I do. Why?"
"Please send me the location." Y/N requested in a hurry before cutting the call and rushing to find a ride.
"What happened?" Jisoo questioned, seeing the frown on Lisa's face as she tapped away on her phone.
Location sent.
"I think Y/N saw the news," responded Lisa. "And I think she's going to Jennie Unnie."
Rosè and Jisoo shared a nonchalant stare before the Aussie girl turned to the maknae.
"Shall we go as well?" The blonde girl questioned.
"Let's go."
