My thigh still wasn't fully healed but we ran like crazy, or at least we tried. One of my hands went around his shoulder to try and help him. They started shooting again though, just like when they shot my thigh. Assholes.
I motioned for him to go in front of me, he didn't wanna budge so I slowed down slightly so I was behind him. They shot me a few times in the back, but I had my armor on. Thank God.
Shit, not again. The same burning and stinging feeling in my shoulder, then my wrist. Fuck. I didn't say anything to Simon about it, I just kept running with him till we were to base. We must've ran a couple miles honestly.
As we were still jogging, we would be at base in hopefully a couple minutes.
"Why did they take you and not me." I asked him in a sharp exhale. My whole body aching in pain and I'm sure his was too.
"I don't know.." he whimpered out, I could hear him try to hide the pain in his voice.
I put my arm back around his shoulder, I think he felt a liquid oozing down because he turned to see my wrist all red and my shoulder gushing.
"Bloody hell. You should've stayed at base." He whispered to me as we kept jogging.
"That's what Price said, but then you wouldn't be here." I winced in pain but kept going, at least it wasn't my leg.
He didn't respond to me, he knew I was right but he felt bad that I risked myself for him.
"I'm so fucking sorry." I could hear him holding back some tears, his face was still bleeding badly, I wanted to get him to base but he started to slow down with me.
We soon came to a halt, he held the wrist that was bleeding in his own hands. He leaned in to kiss me. I wiped his eyes with my thumb on the hand that wasn't bleeding.
"It's not your fault L.T. now let's keep going." I whimpered out.
"I'll make it up to you. For all this trouble." His tone was dark yet soft.
As we made it to base, we both needed to stay in the infirmary for awhile, he got out after a day due to his small cuts, but he had bandages all around his face.
I on the other hand, couldn't move my hand at all after that. They had put bandages and a giant cast around my whole arm. I had to stay for 2 days before being let out, except I wasn't able to go to training or complete the mission till I was done healing, same with Simon.
We weren't gonna be able to start the mission back up for another month so Price sent us back home to everyone. He told us to get some rest and feel better.
I felt bad that we messed it up. I felt like it was my fault. If I would've stayed up with him, we still could've been doing the mission.
We were both on the plane after that, we sat next to each other and I went out to hold his hand with the one that was healthy. He glanced at me as I did.
"I fucked up the mission." He groaned as he looked down.
"No you didn't.." I whispered, my thumb rubbing his hand.
His hand went down to rub my thigh, the one that got shot, then he went back up to hold my hand again.
