Cody:

I'm pretty sure that I've made a complete fool of myself and it's only my first day.

First, I sat with a freshman on the train and everyone started looking at me weirdly. Then, my bags got stuck in the overhead bin and I got lost in the school. So I showed up late to the assembly and I almost missed roll call. After that, I met my new roommate, Noah. He went with me to get our schedules and I said my full name to the Dean so I got an even weirder stare from Noah.

We went to our dorm and Noah started walking into each room until he went to one and smiled. He called dibs on it and we got into a little argument until our other roommate, Justin came. He started yelling at Noah about taking the 'good room' who only smirked.

"So Cody, you seem like a minimalistic type of person. Do you wanna switch rooms?" Justin asked sitting on the sofa next to me. I nodded slowly and Justin took my hand and shook it. "Thanks, Cody, you're awesome!" He said. "Uh, sure," I responded unsure of what happened.

I went to move my stuff from mine to Justin's. When I opened the door I went back to my old room. "Um Justin, I don't wanna switch," I said looking at him. "Too bad. You agreed and we shook on it," He smiled. "Did you get him to switch with you?" Noah asked walking into the room. "Yep," Justin told him.

"Did he make you shake on it?" Noah asked turning to me. I nodded and Noah laughed at me shaking his head. "Oh my god, why would you do that? Did you even look to see what you were doing? Have you ever been to a school like this before?" Noah asked again between his laughs as Justin also started laughing with him.

"I've been in public school my whole life. What's so funny?" I told them. "Do you want some advice, newbie?" Noah asked as he slung his arm around my shoulder. "Sure, I guess," I replied. "Whenever someone here asks you for a favor or makes a deal with you, you never shake on it unless you know what you're doing. Exhibit A, you're now stuck in the crappy room and you can't switch back. To put it simply, don't trust the kids here when it comes to stuff like that," Noah explained.

"So I can't trust you then?" I asked skeptically. "That depends. Can I borrow five bucks, I forgot my cash," Noah responded changing the subject. "Sure," I told him handing him the cash.

"When are you gonna pay me back?" I asked him. "I don't remember saying I would pay you back. Also, you never asked to be paid back," Noah told me grinning. "Huh?" I said confused. "Lesson Two, whenever you make a deal here, you gotta be more specific in the terms of exchange," Noah responded handing me back the money.

"Anyways, I gotta go compare my schedule with my friends. Cya," Noah told us walking towards the door.

"Do you and Noah hate each other?" I asked like a 5-year-old. Justin looked at me and laughed. "Noah? No. We just mess around with each other a lot. We've been roommates since freshman year and we knew each other in middle school. It's always just friendly banter. He always steals my hair products and I take his books. It just looks like we hate each other because Noah's always so monotonous," Justin explained.

"Does he have a crush on Courtney?" I asked again. "Ha, no. Courtney's his best friend. Also, Courtney has a girlfriend and Noah is as straight as a circle. They're close though. They bonded over the fact that they both have seriously dysfunctional families and that they're both the gifted kids of their family," Justin told me.

"Also, I would check to make sure that cash is legit," Justin said. "What do you mean?" I wondered as I looked at the bill. It was fake. "How the fu-" "Noah's good scamming people. He once scammed Heather out of 20 bucks. He's also a pretty good hacker. He once told me that when he was 6, he hacked into the Kosmic Kaos site and became the site moderator," Justin continued. "That's so cool," I said astonished.

Justin nodded in agreement before saying, "I have to go meet up with some friends of mine. Do you wanna come with me?" "Sure!" I answered cheerfully. "Nice, but I'm warning you, one of them is geeky," Justin warned as we walked outside. I overheard a bunch of giggling and talking in the room next door. "That's Courtney, Gwen, and Bridgette's dorm. Judging by the amount of laughter that's coming from there, I'd say that all of the girls plus Noah are in there." Justin told me.

We walked down the hall until we reached the dorm 429. Justin knocked on the door and a tall red-head opened the door. "Sup Justin. Who's this?" He asked looking at me. "Hey, Harold. This is Cody. He's my roommate. Cody, this is Harold." Justin told him introducing me. "Nice to meet you, Harold," I said trying to be friendly. Harold just blinked at me and walked away. "Okay..." I mumbled confused.

"He's the weird one," Justin whispered to me. "Yeah, I kinda figured that," I whispered back. "Hey, Justin. What are you doing here?" A tall guy with green eyes and a green shirt said walking towards us. "Hey babe, just wanted to see what you were up to," Justin responded kissing the other guy on the cheek.

"Hi! I'm Cody!" I said happily. "What's up? I'm Trent, Justin's boyfriend," He said giving me a fist bump. "Hey, little buddy! I'm Owen!" Another boy shouted. He was chubby and looked energetic. "Nice to meet you. I'm Cody!" I responded.

"Isn't Noah also your roommate?" Trent asked. "Yeah, why?" I answered. "Has he scammed and or hacked you yet?" Harold questioned. "He scammed me for five bucks. Why?" I responded. "If you don't want your internet history leaked, don't mess with him. Once, Harold folded the page on one of Noah's favorite books and Noah posted every love letter Harold wrote on the internet and taped it around the school." Trent told me.

"My little buddy isn't that bad. But he does know how to hack someone," Owen defended.

I looked at the clock that read 8:47. "Justin, we should probably get back to our dorm so we don't get in trouble," I told Justin. "You're right. See you guys tomorrow," Justin said waving goodbye.

We got to our dorm and saw Noah sitting on the sofa reading. "I'm gonna go to sleep. Good night guys," Justin said walking to his room.

"Noah, can I ask you something?" I said. "Sure," Noah responded. "Do you know how to hack?" I asked. "Yep. Why do you ask?" Noah answered. "Trent and Owen were saying how you posted Harold's emailed love letters on the internet after he folded your book. Is that true?" I told him. "Yeah. But I never hacked my friends, and I always did it for a reason," Noah replied. "We're friends right?" I asked. "Oh yeah." He answered. "So you wouldn't do that to me?" I questioned.

"Not unless you give me a reason to. Night, Cody," Noah said walking to his room.

"Good n-night," I stuttered.

I'm not sure if Noah was serious when he said that he could hurt me if he wanted to. I hope he wasn't.

I hope this year goes by smoothly.
