Vegas's pov:

I actually slept  a bit the next morning.

It was already 10 o'clock by the time I woke up.

I guess I was more tired than I realised.

The pain had lessened a bit but it was still aching pretty bad.

Probably going to be that way since I healed Kim before the pain from healing Kinn had gone away.

I took a quick shower and brushed my teeth before heading downstairs.

I was surprised when I was hit with the smell of pancakes and toast when I got downstairs.

I went toward the kitchen, blinking in surprise when I saw Kim moving around, cooking.

"Kim? Why are you still here?" I asked as I went toward the counter.

"Your cabinets and fridge were basically empty. What have you been eating?" He asked back without answering my question.

I bit my lips as I leaned against the counter for support. "I wasn't... Really hungry. So not much. But you didn't answer my question."

He turned off the stove and turned to face me.

He looked me up and down before coming up to me.

"Sit down and wait. I'm almost done." He wrapped an arm around me and brought me to the table before sitting me down on one of the chairs.

He moved to go back to the kitchen, but I grabbed his arm before he could.

"Don't ignore my question, Kimhan." I frowned.

"Do you not remember what I said last night?" He cocked an eyebrow.

I blinked, thinking back to last night.

Oh.

"Are you planning on staying here or something?" I looked at him exasperated.

"Doesn't look too bad of a place to stay in. Away from all the noise and people." He muttered while looking around.

I was about to mention his job but he spoke before I could say anything.

"But unfortunately, I have a job outside of this world too. So I can't."

"Then why are you still here?" I asked slowly.

"Just because I can't move in doesn't mean I can't stay for a while. And I have the next week off, so." He shrugged.

"Are you planning on staying here until then?" I could feel a small hope igniting in my chest as I spoke the words.

"Mhm. Now let me get back to work before it goes cold." He slipped my hand off before going back into the kitchen.

I watched him silently as he finished up the last slices of toast and made omelettes.

He's staying here... For the next week...

I won't be alone... Someone is actually staying... Out of their own free will...

No one has ever...

I gulped the lump that formed in my throat and blinked away the tears that threatened to form in my eyes.

It's only a week.

Just seven days.

But I'll take it.

Seven days is already seven more than anyone has ever stayed.

Even if it's short, I'll treasure this one week with someone actually here with me instead of just the ghosts of my thoughts.
