A shorter, sadder version of the story.

Vegas's pov:

I stared down at my phone screen blankly, reading and rereading the texts that were displayed on it.

I had texted Kim earlier today, asking if he would be able to make it for dinner.

It's been almost 6 hours. But no reply has come.

I tried calling him but no answer.

I thought he was busy at first, so I texted Rita to make sure because I was worried something happened.

She said he had left their last voice training session 4 hours ago.

I texted Big only to find out that he was out with someone.

A particular boy.

He wouldn't say who it was but I knew.

It's not the first time he's going out with the boy after all.

I saw him with him a few times before in the city as well. But he doesn't know that.

I sighed softly and put the phone face down on the bed in front of me before pulling my knees close to my chest and burying my face in them.

I should've seen this coming.

I should've known it wouldn't last.

I should've known better than to think someone would ever stay for long with me.

Of course, he would get bored eventually.

Why wouldn't he?

I'm nothing magnificent. Just a cousin he felt sorry for and took in.

I tightened my arms around my knees as I felt my chest ache and my eyes sting.

It's ok.

I'm ok.

I can just go back to being alone like before.

I'll be fine by myself.

I've survived alone my whole life.

I can do it in the future too.

I looked toward the door as I heard it unlock and familiar footsteps come in.

It was already the next morning.

He came in, yawning softly and combing back his messy hair.

He was still wearing the same clothes from yesterday.

He stopped when he noticed me in the kitchen.

I forced a smile on my face, hiding the ache I felt in my chest.

"Stayed over at the studio?"

He cleared his throat and nodded. "Yeah. I got an idea which I wanted to put down before I forgot."

Liar. He doesn't even have any dark circles.

"Want to eat something before hitting the bed?" I asked, still keeping the smile on my face even as I felt the ache intensifying.

"No, I'm not really hungry right now. I'm just going to sleep." He shook his head.

I nodded."I'll keep some food in the fridge then. You can heat it up and eat when you wake up."

"Yeah. Thanks." He nodded and went upstairs.

I looked at Big who came in slowly, actively avoiding my gaze.

My suspicions were only confirmed when I saw the guilt on his face.

I didn't say anything and turned back to the toast I was making.
