Chapter 4: During the First Race

The 3 of them got onto the track and got into their starting positions with everyone else.

The announcers then started talking. "Welcome to the Los Angeles Motor Speedway folks! My name is Darrell Cartrip and my co host, Bob Cutlass with todays race!" Darrell said with a smile from the host window.

"We sure do have quite the audience today here, Darrell! And I heard we have a new rookie this race too that's on our infamous team Dinoco! Her name is Mizuna, but as you all can see, she's not a car like the rest of us! She's a human." He says with anticipation in his tone.

"From the information we've been given from Tex, they brought her here on purpose but do you think she'll be able to keep up, Bob? I know she has quite the personality at least." Darrell says with anticipation in his tone too.

"Darrell, if she was able to get the pole spot for todays race, she must be capable of enough." Bob says honestly but light heartedly as he spoke into the mic. "Darrell, I've also heard she's had quite the argument against Chick Hicks already out in the pits before the race. That means a rivalry here on the track, even."

Lightning fell back a bit just to give Chick a smug smirk when they mentioned the argument, then quickly rolled back into his starting position after getting a reaction out of him.

Chick scoffed but continued driving.

Mizuna wasn't paying attention but the track ahead as she walked at the same speed as the cars.

A couple moments later, Darrell came over the mic. "Start your engines racers!"

Mizuna smirked as electricity sparks up around her and her eyes turned gold as a slight glow appeared around her.

Darrell then says one of the famous phrases in racing. "BOOGITY, BOOGITY, BOOGITY! LETS GO RACING!"

Once the green flag was waved, Mizuna bolted off, leaving electric spark marks behind her.

Lightning looked in shock at how fast she took off, but that only motivated him further as he took off after her.

Strip was close behind Lightning, while Chick and the rest of the race cars followed suit.

Lightning was now close coming up beside Mizuna on the outside. "You weren't joking, were you?"

Mizuna smirked while she was running, keeping up at the same pace as they were driving. "Well no shit captain obvious." She says sarcastically and playfully as she ran faster ahead. "Let's see if you can keep up with the golden flash herself, Lightning!" She says challengingly. "If you win the race then you beat me." She made sure he could still hear her despite the roar of his own engine and the others surrounding them.

He smirked. "Oh you're on Mizuna! Kachow!" He pushed on ahead to keep up with her.

Chick, of course, was wrecking the other racers left and right when he got an opportunity but he caught up and was right on Lightning's bumper, which he was never let through. Chick started getting mad.

Mizuna glanced back, noticing Chick on Lightning's bumper. "Damn Chick! I didn't think you liked Lightning like that!" She teased.

Chick looked grossed out. "What?! No I don't!"

"Then why are you on his bumper, huh?" She teased more.

He got even more mad, but didn't say anything.

Mizuna looked at Lightning and winked, then sped ahead as a hint that he should catch up, which he took.

Lightning and her had a good laugh a bit ways away from Chick at her catching him off guard, while still continuing their competition after he caught back up to her.

The laps went down and it was now down to the last 3 laps. It was mainly Mizuna or Lightning maintaining the lead the whole race. A huge wreck suddenly started happening. Everyone either flipped or started spinning out, but Mizuna and Lightning were the only 2 gutsy enough to take it all on.

Mizuna currently had the lead, but had to fall back a little to swiftly dodge through the chaos. She noticed Lightning bobbing and weaving through all the chaos as well, but the second she noticed he used one of the wrecked cars to jump into the air with his tires to just jump over it all, she decided to do the same, and she jumped even higher then he was able to, making the crowd go absolutely crazy. She landed right on the ground before Lightning landed and bolted off again. She'd glance back to see if he was catching up.

He was catching up and he was catching up pretty quick. He drove up beside her. "That was awesome as hell! I wasn't expecting you to pull off something like that." He says while giving her a glance of admiration.

She nods. "I have experience with all this back at home, so I know what I'm doing." She says with a small smile. "Don't you think you need to go pit to get tires?" She said with her speed slowing down a bit to stay behind the pace car.

"No. I'll be alright." He tells her. "Plus I want to enjoy this time with you while I can, beautiful." He said with a smooth and flirty tone.

Mizuna grins. "I don't blame you, but if you really think that's smart, then ok." She says politely.

Not Chuck heard that through his headset. "You need tires you idiot!" He yelled.

Lightning obviously ignored him.

Mizuna heard Not Chuck yell, but never said anything as it wasn't her business.

The race was now back on and more time passed. It was the final lap and it was really close at this point between Mizuna, Lightning, Strip, and Chick. Mizuna ended up crossing the finish line first and winning, but it looked like the other 3 were tied for second.
