"Aaron, I'm serious," I then said, trying to reassure him that everything was ok, "I'm alright, you don't need to apologize about anything!"

"No,I have to apologize!" He then says, "I was asleep when you needed me , and I'm so... sorry for that."

"Aaron, I wanted to sleep in for majority of the day too," I then say, once again trying to reassure him, "we were up majority of the night. So, I would've usually slept most of the day if I could've. But I woke up early for some reason. And couldn't go back to sleep..."

"You know what, don't say another word!" He then exclaimed, "how about I just go over there. Where are you?"

"Aaron, you don't need to do that!" I then exclaimed, "I don't think you should come over. It's not the right time! I haven't even told my parents about you yet. And if you come over. It's gonna make things a bit more difficult for my family."

He was silent for a while. And I was starting to think that I had hurt his feelings.

When he finally talked again.

"Look, I'm sorry," I then say, regret was clear in my tone, "but I really think you shouldn't come. This is mostly a matter between me and my family."

"No! No...I completely understand," he then says, reassuring me, "I'm sorry, it's just that I really wanna be with you. Especially when you're around the subject of death...or a family member who's about to die. But, I get that it just needs to be you and your close ones. And, I understand that it's not the right time for me to show up."

"Thanks Aaron, for understanding everything I'm going through," I then said, happy that he understood my feelings I'm going though.

We were both silent again. Seemingly running out of things to talk about. Until Aaron asked me how I was doing.

"Honestly, I'm a mix of stressed and tired right now," I then said, "but overall, I'm all right."

"You're sure about that? You just said that you're stressed and tired," he then said, chuckling, "that doesn't sound like you're alright."

"I know what I said dummy," I then said, rolling my eyes as a slight smile came on my lips, "my mind is just everywhere right now."

"I know baby...I know that feeling," he then says, "when you're in a very serious situation. Your mind is just everywhere, along with your emotions and heart."

"Yeah, I guess that's what's happening," I then said, chuckling again.

"Did you eat?" He then asks.

"I was gonna make us both breakfast when I got the call about my dad," I then said, sighing at the memories as they replayed through my head, "honestly, I lost my appetite the moment I heard the news. I haven't been able to eat anything since."

"Well, you should still eat," he then says, concern clear in his tone, "even if it's a small thing. Like...fruit...breakfast bars...anything like that."

"Yeah, but even if I try..." I then paused, thinking of what to say next, "I just can't find the motivation to eat. Especially after what condition I've seen dad in."

"That's understandable..." he then says, before going silent again.

We were like this as for what seemed like forever. Seemingly running out of things to talk about again. Before I then decided to go ahead and let him go.

"Alright, I'm gonna let you go now," I then said, "I love you! I'll see you soon!"

"Bye baby," he then said, before I hear a kissing sound on the phone, "love you too."
