Eliana couldn't stop thinking about what happened, even when she got home to Glowvale. Sophie stared at her. "Are you still feeling sick, sweetie?" Eliana shook her head. Poor Sophie. All of the school things were happening under her nose but she never realised anything.
"Hey Mum," she suddenly said, remembering what Lyndsey told them. "Yes, Eliana?" Sophie asked. "Do you know someone who disappeared a few years ago? Her name was Rayni. Rayni Aria." Sophie's face grew more pinched. "Yes but why?" Eliana shrugged. "I met her daughter today. She was the literal definition of weird. Also, Lyndsey told us some things about her." Sophie pinched the skin between her eyes and sighed. "Rayni Aria, you say?" Eliana nodded.
"Rayni Aria. Where do I start?" she mumbled to herself. "Right. You know my history with Black Swan and the Neverseen? Rayni was a member of the Neverseen. Then, Tam, you know Tam, met her when he was held as a kind of captive of the Neverseen. They worked together to complete the second step of stellarlune, the process of 'change' they called it, nearly killing your father in the process. I mean, she wasn't bad but, not my favourite. When Tam got married to Biana though... That was the worst part. Went half demented and we never heard from her again. She kinda just vanished. Then, we heard that she actually vanished and her daughter was left to be adopted by Trella who I've met once in the Ultimate Splotching Competition. But, Rayni Aria used to call herself Glimmer. She beat Wylie in a splotching contest once."
"And her daughter?" Eliana prompted. Sophie sighed. "She's had a hard life. Be careful. Try to make friends, things might go easier from there." Eliana frowned. "I've tried, really. But, she's not the type to make friends easily."
Sophie shrugged and went back to cooking. "I assume that's the case. Maybe try with Finn. She liked Tam." Eliana slumped down onto the floor and Sophie sighed again. She stopped cooking and sat down next to her daughter. "Listen, sweetie. Life won't be easier if you put a huge burden on your shoulders. You need to get rid of the thoughts that will affect your life and leave them behind. Staying strong in the battlefield is what makes a good warrior a great warrior."
Eliana lifted her head. "Thanks Mum. Also, when's Dad coming home?" Sophie shrugged. "I don't know." Suddenly, Sophie's Imparter rang. "Hello?" she asked. Then, she froze and collapsed. Eliana grabbed her. "Mum! What's going on?" Sophie pulled on a cape and pulled one on Eliana's shoulders. Then, she dragged her into the landing where they shoved on the shoes and light-leaped away. Eliana was so confused.
"Mum!" Eliana shouted until she recognised the familiar streets of Mysterium. "What's happening?" she cried as wind swirled around them, tighter and tighter, wrapping them in a cocoon as bitter, blinding wind pelted them with gales. It went haywire, wrecking down houses and bricks came loose in the pavement.
Sophie yelled, "Calm down Eliana! This is all you!" Eliana looked down and realised the wind was coming from her, the balls of gas swirling in her hands. She counted down to three and her body flew backwards, the impact of stopping immediately throwing her back and she groaned softly, her body lay there, bruised and broken.
A boy ran up to her. "Eliana!" he shouted and Eliana realised it was Waylen. Her face turned pink and she tried to get up but he gently helped her up, being supported by Lyndsey. "Where's your mum? Or dad?" Lyndsey asked. Eliana shrugged and a forcefield flew out from her body. It was a clear one, tinged blue. She had never done that before. Blue forcefields always drained her strength and she couldn't do them at all. What was it now?
She saw that she was taking the power out of the storm, managing to rejuvenate herself with her Guster ability and taking the strength of the storm into her Psionipath ability. Waylen and Lyndsey stared dumbstruck at her. "You're a Psionipath?" "There's no time to explain!" she yelled through the storm, dragging them after her.
Sophie ran towards her daughter. "Where's Keefe?" Eliana opened her eyes wide. "I don't know."
Suddenly, a shout rang out. "Help! Man inside!" Psionipaths and Hydrokinetics arrived to help from the fire. But, Keefe remained unseen and unforgotten, inside probably. Sophie screamed and the last thing Eliana saw was her mother's anguished face before the Inflicting by Sophie took her consciousness away.
