Chapter 1

It was a cold morning, and at a camp, soldiers had small campfires burning. They chat about their situation. They mention that this is the last offensive against the Demon army. There are other groups of soldiers patrolling and guarding the camp. Large tents house some soldiers who are resting. A person wearing knight's armor steps out of a tent away from the rest. "None of you will die; I promise you a happy life. I know you will be mad at me, but we will laugh at this when this is all over".

The knight draws some energy. A large circle, the size of the camp, appears beneath. "Sleep," the knight spoke, and the soldiers fell asleep. The knight starts to walk and heads outside the camp. A large forest in front of a castle could be seen from a hill where the base was. The knight took a horse and rode in the direction of the castle.

The sun was coming up, and the soldiers were walking up. A large commotion has them panicking and shouting. They start to wake the rest of the soldiers. "Do you know what happened?" one soldier asks another. "No," he replies; he looks around and sees others waking and asking the same question.

One soldier ran to the tent that was further away. "Felix, Hero Felix," the soldier shouted as he ran to the tent. He stops at the entrance and calls out once more. A woman's voice is heard. "Felix, they are calling you; wake up." No reply, the soldier calls out to the woman. "War Maiden, it's urgent; please come see outside"! It took a few minutes before a girl about 17 came out.

The girl is of average height with beautiful blue hair. It is short down to her shoulders. She has fair skin and light blue eyes. She was wearing a robe. "Captain, please, it's too early. If you are looking for Felix, it looks like he isn't here". "If that is the case, please look." The soldier points out to the castle. It was burning along with part of the forest. She is surprised and in disbelief.

"Girls, wake up"! She turns around and shouts inside the tent. There was a big bed, and the silhouettes of others moved underneath the blankets. She turns to the soldier. "Tell the captains to get everyone ready for battle." "Yes, maiden, right away." "Felix, you couldn't have," she thought. The soldier ran to the camp and told the captains to prepare for battle. The captains hurried to their troops and gave orders. "Get a move on and prepare to move"! one captain shouted. "Shield troops, line up"!

A whistle is heard, and the troops look toward the forest. The trees began to fall. Noises were heard, and a hoard of beasts emerged. "Archers to your positions"! Another captain ordered—the archer line along a wooden wall they had built. "Archers ready," the archers set their arrows on their bows. They pulled back on the string and aimed up.

"Release," a volley of arrows flew and rained down on the beasts. "Ready the second shots." The arches again set their arrows. "Release," another volley of arrows came down on the enemy. "Shield troops advance," a large group of soldiers with shields and a spear walk toward the enemy. The beasts collide with the shield soldiers. The soldiers stop the beasts. They use their spears to attack. More arrows fall on the enemy towards the back. Some beasts jumped over the shields.

The shield soldiers were breaking formation. The beasts were biting and dragging the soldiers. You could hear their screams. "Reform the line; wait for reinforcements," the captain shouted. The sound of horses gave the soldiers relief. The horse cavalry tramples the beasts. They made several more passes. More beasts were coming out from the forest. "Draw your swords, advance," the captain of the sword and shield said; the troops ran towards the enemy.

The sky started to get cloudy. From the clouds, winged beasts swooped down. They picked up some soldiers. "Archers focus on the winged beasts." The archers aimed at the beasts and shot some before they got to the soldiers. The battle was fierce. The sword and shield troops helped slow the beasts. The soldiers heard more trees fall. They then heard a strange noise.
