Chapter 8
In a peaceful city, people walk around and buy from stands and stores. This city was colorful and resembled an old European city. Guards with leather armor patrol the streets. The people were primarily human, with some beast men and elves walking around; dwarf artisans sold their goods. The people gossip about the upcoming tournament.
A huge mansion surrounded by a metal fence stood at the city's edge. Soldiers patrolled the area, and people were coming and going. The soldiers checked them before letting them in. Most of these visitors looked like nobles. A carriage was pulling up to the mansion.
A servant goes and meets the carriage; the door opens, and a nobleman walks out. "Welcome, sir; King Roy is expecting you." The noblemen ask the servant to lead the way. They enter the mansion, and the nobleman is escorted to a room. They walk down a hallway, where maids are cleaning.
Knights stood guard inside the mansion. The noblemen and servant approached a door protected by knights; the servant knocked and opened it. They entered, and the servant presented him. He was Alexander Wes. "My liege, there is no stopping them." King Roy Beckham of the Eclipse Kingdom was sitting on a throne.
King Roy was an older man, much like King Arnold; he also had a huge body. He was light-skinned and had black hair, a well-groomed mustache, and a beard. He wore your typical colorful royal clothes. "HUM, there is no way around it then; what do you think, Zara?"
Several advisers, nobles, and representatives of the elf clan that protected the kingdom of Eclipse were in his throne room. Zara Joratlin, one of Felix's wives and a maiden of war, was present. Zara looks the same as when she was with Felix. She is a fair-skinned beauty with long blonde hair and green eyes; she wears a newly designed archer outfit.
"Princess Sophie is a strong and noble woman; she will do what is necessary for her kingdom and people. When we traveled, I learned much about her; if she has decided, we cannot change it." King Roy asks his advisers for their opinion. "We have fought the Solaris Empire for territory, and we've yet to stop," said one noble.
"Prince Isaac has taken the reins from his father; we have tried to have peaceful talks, but he wants too much," said another. "Why are we wasting our time on this; when this union happens, there is no telling what they can do," another noble shouts. Several advisers also agree that they should prepare. King Roy sighs, "Have we learned nothing? The war with the King of Demons has questioned our morals and allegiance. Prince Isaac argued that our decisions during the war were self-interested and reserved."
King Roy asks Zara about their chances of winning a fight. "Truthfully, sir, they would have the upper hand; out of the seven of us maidens, they have three. Princess Sophie is a master with the sword, so she wouldn't have trouble defeating a whole platoon; then there is Valerie; her fighting style makes her very dangerous to get close to."
"And who might be the third?" "The Hyperion Kingdom backs the church, and undoubtedly, they would send her too, Saint Alice; she will keep their soldiers fighting." King Roy thought about it. He dismisses them; he wants to think about it alone. The nobles and advisers bow and leave. King Roy tells Zara he will contact them again; Zara and the other elves bow and leave.
Zara and the elves are escorted out; they go behind the mansion, where there is a forest. Zara and the elves disappear into the woods. They climb the trees and jump from branch to branch. More elves appear and inform her of other situations. "Have the scouts keep looking; Mio should still be alive somewhere."
Felix and Trever were on their way to the Hyperion Kingdom in an oddly built carriage. Trever was lying on the seat in an awkward position. Felix was creeped out by the way he stared at him. Trever asked him again to tell him his story. Felix told him about his childhood and the war.
