Chapter 11

"Kai, there is trouble; I need you to tell me where Helen went," Sophie asked. Kai told Sophie that he didn't know where she went; he told her he went to get her some snacks. Sophie asked if he knew where she would go. Kai said he might have an idea. Sophie told him to lead the way.

Kai opened the secret door, and they both headed in. Sophie cast a spell and created a ball of light. As they made their way to the underground center, Sophie began to remember herself exploring down there, "Kai, does Helen come down here often?" "Yes, Miss, she likes to explore the castle's secrets."

Sophie smiles: they reach the center, "Okay, Kai, which way?" Kai looks around and points to a door leading to the docks, "Lady Helen likes to sneak to the city often; most of the time is when you fight." Sophie is saddened by what Kai said. They were about to head that way when Sophie spotted something.

"Kai, wait, look over there; something was dragged. Sophie takes a closer look. She sees that some footprints are heading in a certain direction, "This path leads...Kai, we need to hurry!" Kai understands and gets serious; they begin to run towards the royal vault.

Helen and Felix were standing at the stairs leading to the vault. Helen again was deciding if she should trust Felix. Felix didn't want to pressure her, so he waited; he sat on the steps, "So, Helen, or should I call you Princess." Helen didn't feel bothered by him as she did King Isaac.

"You can call me Helen." Felix felt happy and started conversing with her. He asked her to talk about herself. He hoped to create trust; Helen didn't want to, but after a few minutes, she spoke, "I hoped that it would be my mother taking over after my grandfather."

"What?" Helen told Felix why she wanted to stop the wedding. Helen was always proud of her mother; she was loved by the people she told him. Helen said she wanted to be like her; she liked to hear about her travels. Helen becomes emotional. "Are you okay," Felix asks.

Helen wipes her tears; she then asks him why he is willing to help her. "Like I said, I would like to speak with her. I need to tell her something important." Helen gives him an awkward stare. Felix loses his cool and tries to compose himself. "Tell me the truth if you want to earn my trust." Felix thinks, "There is a chance she will believe me or lose all trust and leave. I need to put it so that she would consider the possibility." Felix asks Helen if she believes the stories of her and the other children being children of God. Helen stares at him, "Why do you ask?"

"If you want me to be honest, I don't know much about the world; I recently found myself in this strange world." Helen didn't know what he meant by that. Felix gave her a short answer. He told her he had been asleep, "To put it simply, I have been cursed."

"Cursed?" "Yeah, I don't want it to sound strange, but this whole world is living a lie," Felix said. Helen thinks about what he was saying. "Hyperion was one of the richest nations; even if they supported the war efforts, it wouldn't lose too much. On the contrary, they would have gotten richer."

Helen didn't know what he was talking about. Felix explained it to her; he told her that the Kingdom lost its economy due to an outside source. "What!" "I don't know when it started, but I believe this was planned." Helen looks back on what she remembers: flashbacks of her grandfather pleading with merchants and business owners.

"Please let us talk about it; raising taxes for a while will help improve the situation...." King Arnold was in the throne room with some important nobles; they were upset that he wanted to raise property taxes and lower prices for the people. Some were offered better proposals to move their shops. Helen was young and snuck into the throne room to witness their conversation.
