The Broken Continent was said to be part of the mainland. When the gods fought and defeated the evil god Hogaldir, Kelin used his power to seal him. Kelin then split the continent in two. Kelin banished all that the evil god created. He also gave the demon race a chance to leave or be destroyed. The demons left and settled there.

It is not easy living here. The Broken Continent is called this because the land has cracks. The ocean has filled some while others lead to the depths of the world. A few holes have formed ecosystems that are popular for explorers.

The beasts the evil god created have evolved and taken over certain parts of the continent. The demon race resides on the northern part of the continent close to a mountain range. They lived complex lives because it was challenging to hunt and farm. The environment was also dangerous.

The human race had settled and taken its peaceful lands on the continent's eastern side. The demons spread and were civilized. Some demon people became good friends with the humans and other races that inhabit the continent. When King Kaminari took over the throne, he honored the previous king's request to have good ties with the humans.

The demon race took on the Japanese culture, and it was thriving. They traded their crafts for food; their most significant profit was minerals and precious ores from the mountains. Over time, the threats of the evil beasts made it hard; at the same time, the mines were running out. The nobles complained, which upset King Kaminari.

King Kaminari sought other ways to help his citizens, but he needed help. The human race still looked down on them because of the legends of their ancestors; eventually, King Kaminari reached a decision. "Lord Hogaldir will help his people."

It has almost been a year since Demon Lord Kaminari started the war. Some scouts from the Hyperion Kingdom had made it across the desert. They met with various resistance fighters. According to them, they set up a military outpost on the other side of the desert. They heard from the locals that winter was the safest time to cross the desert.

After hearing what was happening, they said they would inform the kings. A week ago, they met with Captain Steven Hughes; Captain Hughes was a soldier and part of the offensive that would have stopped the demon forces. He and others became freedom fighters.

He had helped Felix and is now part of the active fighting unit. Felix was only helping with chores and the injured. He reunited with his friend Billy. Billy was of average height; he had black hair and brown eyes. Billy was considered a good-looking boy back home.

Billy is about the same age as Felix and is part of a farming family. Like Felix, he had to join the military; Billy and another friend were part of the supply unit. After their defeat, Billy was captured and sent to work in a mine. There, he met a girl Felix liked. Emma was a good-looking girl who worked at a bar in their hometown.

Emma was also captured and forced to work in the same mine. Emma grew closer to Billy and got together. During transportation, Captain Hughes led a group and recused them. They returned to camp, where Felix and Billy reunited. Felix learned about what happened, and with Billy, he also wanted to change.

To protect Emma, Billy joined the rescue force; Felix also wanted to help and joined. They learned how to fight correctly and went on missions with them. Billy became a good fighter, while Felix hesitated in most parts. He was then asked to watch for the enemy.

It was winter, and they were out getting ready to help a group of refugees. Felix was on top of a tree, watching the enemy guard the people. Felix gave the signal, and the attacking unit moved. They slowly sneaked to the guards. Hughes looks and sees the enemy.
