This was not how Jensen expected to start his day, but as he walks briskly through the corridors of the Castle, he can't stop thinking about what Justice has just told him. It was hard for him to hear what Justice had overheard, and he couldn't help the anger from rising inside his chest.
He knew that Harmony was in Court to find a husband, but for whatever reason he had hoped that she would never find one. Jensen knows he is being selfish, but he has grown accustomed to having her close and he knows that once she finds a husband, their relationship will never be the same.
Jensen finally sees the door that leads to the old tower and starts the climb to the top, praying that Harmony is still there and that whatever she has decided while he was on his way, it's something he can help her with. All he hopes for is that that decision won't mean that he will lose her.
He reaches the top and what he sees almost makes him freeze in place. Harmony is standing on the window sill, the window wide open in front of her and she is looking down, perhaps wondering how high above she really is.
Jensen barely has time to think about what is happening. He rushes over and pulls her back into his arms, catching her as she falls. He quickly turns her to look at her, trying to make sure that she's okay, and when he sees the hand-print on her cheek it's enough to make him want to march down to her father's chambers and kick the man's ass into oblivion.
-"Why did you do that?" - Harmony asks him, breaking down in his arms. -"Elise and I could be free."
-"Elise can't lose you, and neither can Justice." - Jensen pulls her close as she starts crying harder, wanting to add that neither can he. -"Tell me what happened, Harmony."
Jensen listens as she takes deep breaths, calming down just enough so that she can speak without her words being cut off by sobs.
-"My father forged a marriage agreement with Lord Carrington and I'm to marry him as soon as it is sealed. I can't... I can't marry him. He is abusive, his last two wives died by his hand, I'm sure of it. I can't marry him, please." - She starts crying again, which breaks Jensen's heart.
-"Harmony, listen to me. I'll find a solution for this, okay? A way out of the agreement and maybe even a way to get Elise to come and stay with you here in Court. I just need some time, alright?"
-"There's no time. My father and Lord Carrington will announce it tomorrow morning. You should just have let me jump. Our lives are over either way."
-"I promise you I will find a solution, Harmony. Trust me. Just... Give me until the party tonight. I should have a plan by then. If I don't, I will help you and Elise disappear. Just wait until tonight, please."
-"Okay, I'll wait." - She says after looking at him for a few seconds.
Jensen knows she was probably looking to see how sincere he was with his offer and if he's honest, he would've promised her the world if it meant she would wait for him to find a way to keep her in his life.
He watches as Harmony cleans the tears from her cheeks, and before he can stop himself, he pulls her into a hug, needing to have her in his arms just a moment longer. When he pulls away, she gives him a sad, teary smile before making her way to the stairs and disappearing from his sight.
Jensen takes a deep breath and sighs. He knows this won't be easy, but he needs to help Harmony, by all means necessary. He can't let her marry someone who is just going to hurt her for the rest of her life. She should be with someone who will love and cherish her everyday, and who will make sure she is safe and taken care of, no matter what.
No, this was definitely not the way he thought he was going to start his day and now he has a mission. One that he will go to great lengths to be successful in.
