Shridha's pov

Time holds the most domineering power in this universe. As the time goes by, everything seems to change. Sometimes we too change and we realise it when we notice the small habits of ours.

A few days later….

As I came out of the airport, I was looking for a cab when a black SUV parked in front of me. Out of curiosity I looked at the person and the door opened and my eyes widened. With a smile on his face, Rudra walked towards me and I couldn't believe my eyes.
" What are you doing here?" Out of the blue I asked and he chuckled.

" I am here to pick you up." He said while taking my luggage from my hand and keeping it in the trunk. He opened the passenger door for me and I got inside mumbling a "thank you".
He ran to the other side before adjusting himself on the driver seat.

" How was your flight ma'am?" He asked and I smiled at him.
" Good and after seeing you here, I guess it couldn't be better." I said and this time I saw him smiling from ear to ear.
" You are getting better with your one-liners." He said and I nodded my head.

" Why are you here by the way?"
" Uncle asked me to pick you up."
" My dad?"
" Yes." He nodded his head.
" I think he likes you already." I said and this time he looked at me.
" You think so?"
" Yes of course. He entrusted his daughter to you. What else do you need?" He smirked while listening to me.
" I am lucky, I guess." He showed his white shiny teeth and that made my heart flutter
" Eyes on the road, Mr. Kapoor" I said while turning his head towards the road and he chuckled.
" What are your plans for today, Shridha?" He asked and I unlocked my phone.
" I have to revise the documents and then have a conference meeting around 8 in the evening." I said while looking at my phone and he didn't say anything. There was a moment of silence and I was busy replying to the mails.
" Are you hungry?" He asked when my stomach grumbled breaking the silence and I felt embarrassed. He stopped the car in front of a restaurant and came out before opening the door for me. We headed in and he pulled the chair for me to sit.
" Thank you. Do you come here often?" I asked as I saw the staff greeting him with respect.
" You can say so." He said while sitting across the table. He passed the menu to me and I looked at him.
" You can order anything." He said and I used my fingers to push back the menu.
" I am not familiar with this place. It's better if you order." I said and he smiled at me before taking the menu.
" Any diet restrictions?"
" No." I answered and he ordered.

" Didn't like the food? I didn't see you eating much." He asked when we were walking out of the restaurant.
" No, I like the food. " I replied while searching for my phone in my pockets and he smiled at me.
" It's in the car."
" What?"
" Your phone. It's in the car. " He said and that made me smile. Also realization hit me.  He noticed, he observed and moreover he cared to take the note.
It's interesting.
I was walking ahead while he was following me. We both had the smile plastered on our lips but we avoided looking at each other.
I was casually scanning the environment when I found a Pani Puri stall across the street.
" Pani Puri!!!!!" I literally screamed and his eyes widened hearing my loud voice. "What made her scream like that" he might have thought this so I decided to let him know since I cannot keep it to myself.
" Rudee, I want to have Pani Puri please." I said while tugging at his blazer and he was amused by my actions and also words.
" Where did you see Pani Puri?" He asked while grinning at me and lifted my hands up and pointed towards the stall.
" There!" I pointed my index finger and his eyes followed the direction to find a Pani Puri stall across the street.
" That's unhygienic, Shridha." He said, scrunching his nose and I glared at him.
Okay I understand that he is the mature one between us. His thoughts are rational but that doesn't mean that he can stop me from having the love of my life, Pani Puri. However I could have my lunch properly. I didn't like the dishes although they were tasty.
" That's not unhygienic, Rudee. Come let's have a look." I said while pulling his hands and walking across the street. We stopped near the stall and I turned to have a look at him only to find him staring at our hands.
The realization hit me and I quickly let go of his hand.
" Okay." He finally said and my eyes lit up. I smiled at him and started savoring my favorite snack.

" So we are here." He said as the car came to a halt. He opened the door for me and I came out.
" Hmm." I replied while he went to take out the luggage from the trunk. I was fumbling with my jacket.
I was in a dilemma whether to invite him inside or not when he came near me with my luggage bag in his hand.
" Here you go." He passed me the luggage and I took it while looking at him.
" Thank you Rudra." I said and he smiled at me. " For dropping me and also for the Pani puris." I completed my sentence and he nodded his head. It felt like he wanted to say something but couldn't find the right words.
" Would you like to have a cup of tea or coffee?" I was unable to find better sentences.
" No, thanks. I better keep going." He said and when he was about to open the door of the driver seat my dad came out.
" You guys are back. Come on! Come inside. Let's have a chat, Rudra." My father said and Rudra shared a look with me before smiling at my father.
" Uncle, I was just leaving." He said but my father held him by shoulder like best buddies and dragged him inside.
I stood there looking at the bond they shared. I don't know how long my father knew Rudra but one thing confirmed that it must be a long time.
My mother always says that I have most of the traits of my father. My father agrees to it too. I find it difficult to mingle with new people but once I get attached, I make sure to never let that person go.
So if my father is so comfortable with Rudra, it means he must have known him for a long time although our parents were friends.
" Are you tired?" Vidhi asked, breaking my reverie and I looked at her.
" Chini... I am talking to you." She teased and I rolled my eyes.
" Why did he pick me up?" I asked and she gave me a smirk.
" Matchmaking little sister. You don't even know that. Grow up." She said while pushing me towards the house and I sighed.
" Would you like to sit with your boyfriend or .....?" She pulled a strand of my hair making me hiss in pain and I glared at her.
" Boyfriend?"
" He is not your husband and you both are not yet engaged so he is not even your fiance. If you call him just a friend then it won't be justified because a common friend cannot visit Mysore from Pune to meet you and spend the whole night with you...." She was blabbering and I saw my mother coming our way so I put my palm over her mouth to shut her up.
" Can you please keep your mouth shut." I hissed and she giggled.
" Chini, get freshen up dear. Meanwhile I will prepare your favorite dishes." My mother said and I pressed my lips into a thin line before saying
" Maa, I had lunch." I said , hesitating and my mother threw a look at Rudra who was sitting with my father in the living area.
" Okay." She said and walked past me.
I sighed for the last time before heading towards my room.
