Rudra's pov...

I silently stood there listening to my parents' conversation. I didn't bother to peek again as the voice was quite audible.

" What do you mean by useful? How are we more desperate than them?" My mother questioned which made my dad sigh. I felt his footsteps until they stopped. Seems like he must have sat beside my mother on the couch.

" That family is filled with beneficial people. They are all from the service sector. " As if my father's words didn't make any sense to my mother.

My mother had been very ambitious since childhood and wanted to be a doctor when my father laid eyes on her. My maternal grandfather saw it as an opportunity to marry off his daughter. She was one of the most beautiful girls in the area which made my dad to confine her in the walls of this house. She was barely twenty back then. She didn't continue her studies hence the dream of becoming a doctor remained a dream.

" Mr. Saxena had been my friend for a very long time and he had been a great help too as we both are beneficial to each other. His daughter is one of the trainees in Mrs. Kriplani's firm and his elder son in law is one of the most demanded lawyers in the country." My eyes widened when my father's words reached my ears. The hair at the back of my neck rose and I peeked to have a look at the expression my father was holding.

He knows that Shridha is the disciple of Mrs. Kriplani.

I couldn't believe my father's words. I knew he could go to any extent for his business but I never thought he would treat me like a pawn.

His construction business has always been doing well and it's after all a business. There are times when she falls and there are also the times when we get raised. It was common but this time my dad was facing some issues regarding the changing of the chairman and the clashes between the board of directors.

I need to talk to him. The moment I decided to step in, Daksh looked at me and shook his head from right to left and I backed out.

Something in Daksh's gaze told me not to react.

Did he know I was eavesdropping?

My parents didn't notice me and I headed towards my room. I have a meeting to attend tomorrow morning.

___________

My watch read 10 a.m when I put the coffee cup down on the table, paid the bill and headed out of the hotel. I was here for a meeting with one of the important investors and got the deal.

My eyes scanned the surroundings as a cold breeze hit my skin. Although I was in my gray suit along with a light pink shirt underneath, I felt cold.

It seemed like the temperature fell down all of a sudden. I took out my keys and headed towards the parking lot. I was heading back home while a lot of thoughts invaded my mind.

I decided to call Daksh.

" Hello!" He answered in the sixth ring and I sighed.

" What the hell are you doing? " I hissed at him and I heard a sharp intake of breath from the other side.

Daksh has been working with my father for almost eight years and it was enough to build loyalty and trust.

" Sir, Mr. Kapoor asked me for the information in the month of August and it was my duty to follow his order and I did. " He replied and I gritted my teeth. It started earlier and I didn't have any idea about it.

" Sir, the Saxena family often stays reserved. Although Mr. Rahul Saxena likes to bring out the secret of the business and financial world, he also maintains his own privacy and it is not easy to get a lead in that family. I didn't know earlier that this investigation was for your...." He was trying to explain himself when I cut him off.
