July 21st:
-Lisa's pov-
The next morning, I woke up early, ready for the day ahead. I headed to the shower and carefully blow-dried my hair. Since getting fringes, I had to style my hair every morning with my trusty Airwrap to avoid looking like I had just rolled out of bed.
I chose a brown blissed skirt and a light blouse for the day. I slathered on sunscreen and applied very light makeup.
On the other hand, Max still appeared somewhat drowsy as he quickly showered and threw on shorts and a tank top. In the summertime, Max only ever wore flip-flops. I even believed he would wear them on a proper hike if given the chance.
We enjoyed breakfast on the hostel's terrace, where the older man who owned the B&B kindly served us coffee, orange juice, and cheese-filled bread buns. Our breakfast was swiftly devoured. We thanked the men and rushed to the designated meeting point for our excursion.
Upon arriving at the heart of the city, we were greeted by our tour guide, Juan. To my surprise, Juan was the same guide I had met on a previous tour with my parents years ago. I remembered him as a super chilled guy.
After we exchanged our names with him, he crossed us off the participant's list and informed us that we had to wait a few moments for the remaining group members to arrive.
He handed each of us a bottle of water as we made small talk, shared where we were from, and let him in on our travel plans. Max excitedly talked about the surf camp we had already booked in the northern part of the country.
Our guide, Juan, mentioned that one of his friends owned that except camp. He offered us to wait inside the minivan, where we could enjoy the air conditioning.
Taking our seats in the middle row, I scrolled through my Instagram feed because I still hadn't checked it today.
After a brief five-minute wait, the van's doors finally slid open, revealing what appeared to be a typical tourist couple. The woman wore a large umbrella, while her companion donned cargo shorts and had a camera around his neck. They settled in the front seats next to the driver, exchanging greetings with us and introducing themselves, the names of which I immediately forgot.
Juan then stuck his head through the sliding door to inform us that the four missing members had called, letting him know that they would arrive shortly.
As we waited, Max and I jokingly conversed in our native language, playfully poking fun at the adorable yet amusing older couple. We also sent a few holiday pictures to our friend's group chat, receiving funny responses almost immediately.
Finally, the door opened again, and two guys introduced themselves as Ricky and Dante. They climbed into the back of the van and took their seats directly behind us.
As Max and I turned around to introduce ourselves, a girl with short blonde hair settled next to them, offering us a wide grin. I stared at her a little too long, as her face seemed familiar.
When our eyes met, she introduced herself as Zoe; instantly, it clicked. I realized who we were sharing the van with.
Urging Max closer, I noticed another girl entering the bus, occupying the last available seat. Though her face was partially covered by a cap and a light linen scarf, I didn't need to see her features to recognize her. It was Billie. Billie Eilish.
Fuck me. No fucking way.
I only had a split second to decide whether to start freaking the fuck out and fan girl over her or maintain my composure. I decided on the latter, as Max had already begun chatting with Dante and Ricky sitting in the back.
