August 24th:
-Lisa's pov-
Billie has been gone for three days, and I miss her. Despite being quite busy, I've been counting the days until I can see her again. We managed to FaceTime once, but finding a suitable time was challenging due to the time difference. The good thing is that her sleep schedule is so messed up, which makes it a bit easier to stay in touch.
However, she's not much of a texter, so I often have to wait hours for her to reply, which is a little annoying because I'm usually a fast replier.
Work has been demanding lately, and my boss keeps hassling me for no reason. I've become so fed up with her behavior that I've been using my free time to develop a program that automates a significant part of our company's data collection process.
Despite not being an expert programmer, I used AI to help me with that. Soon, I plan to show them the program and ask for a raise. I'm fully prepared to quit if they don't meet my wage expectations, and then I'll definitely not give them the script I wrote.
When I'm not at work, I often meet up with Anne, the older woman who has pretty much become my best friend. We spend much time at her lake house, having barbecues and enjoying boat rides. I've been cherishing her company lately. I told her everything that went down with Billie since my trip to Sziget and how I got her back, well kind of. Anne was very supportive, but even if I told her 5 times, she didn't really comprehend who Billie was, which is funny. She asked me why she had performed at the festival twice, lol.
That day, around 5 p.m., I left Anne's place and joined my friends for a campfire gathering. The sun was setting when I arrived, and my friends were already tipsy.
We were a group of 10, but to my dismay, Max was also there. I hadn't seen him since our trip to Portugal, and I was very happy about that, but whatever.
He had texted me once asking if we could talk, but I didn't feel like it, so I ignored it. I sat with my other friends, poured myself a few glasses of wine, and felt genuinely happy to be reunited with them. I shared stories about the Portugal trip but deliberately left out anything about Billie.
At one point, I asked Alex whose spot I took on the trip because he had COVID for the amount I owed him for the festival tickets. Because he had initially bought them with Max.
Confusion filled his face as if he had no idea what I was talking about. "Bro, what festival are you talking about?"
Instantly, I realized that Max had fabricated the story about Alex being sick, using it as an opportunity for a one-on-one trip with me. Eww
I looked at him with my mouth ajar. Max appeared ashamed, knowing he had been caught in his lie, but I didn't comment on it any further.
We continued enjoying the music and sharing our summer stories. I genuinely love all of my best friends fr fr.
Around 10 p.m., we started packing our stuff and went to the metro to go home. On the way there, Max couldn't help but make stupid comments directed at me. He called me a clout-chaser, criticized my preference for branded clothing, and said I was a spoiled brat. After enduring his remarks for some time, I had enough.
"First of all, most of the clothes I wear are second-hand, and secondly, I work and earn my own money, unlike someone who spends their days being an unemployed fuck smoking weed."
He looked at me, irritated.
Alexa plays Lost Cause.
