TOMORROW WAS the wedding. jackie was frantically running around the house since she was in charge of everything. i was with george and we were baking cupcakes.
"how's it going?" jackie asked, walking over to the table.
"well i think this is our best batch ever." george smiles, looking at me, "you wanna try it?"
"uh cupcake batter?" jackie asked in excitement, "yeah, i want to try."
we laugh as i grab a spoon and airplane it into my sister's mouth.
"wow." she says in awe, "is that lemon?"
"well, that's the easy one. what else is in there?" george says.
jackie hums, "lavender?"
"impressive." george chuckles, "the boys are terrible at that."
"it's delicious, you guys."
"thanks!" i say cheerfully, allowing myself to have a taste of the batter.
the door swings open and katherine walks in holding decorations, "there is no way we are gonna be ready for this wedding tomorrow."
"katherine," i start, "it'll be fine."
"oh you think?" she asked.
"yes," jackie reassures, "everything is under control."
"okay," katherine takes off her jacket, "well, then can one of you please remind me why i said we could do this here?"
"because our son asked us." george says, continuing to pour the batter into the pans.
"yes, i remember that."
"and because jackie said she would organize it."
"yes!" katherine agrees, "and for that i will be etnernally grateful."
