IT WAS NOW NIGHT. the guests stayed in their yurts while the walters were getting ready for bed. jackie and i were in the kitchen drying off the glasses. she was awfully quiet.
"are you okay?" i whisper, drying off a dish.
"alex said he loved me." she said quickly, zoning out.
oh that was quick!
i hum, "well what happened."
"i dont know i havent talked to him."
i nod and katherine walks into the kitchen, "oh! what are you two doing? girls, leave all that. george and i are gonna deal with it later."
"it was a good day today, right?" jackie smiles, putting a glass down.
"it was a great day, and we couldnt have done it without the both of you." katherine grins.
"everyone helped." i said.
"some more than others," katherine chuckles, before leaving."
"hey katherine," jackie begins, "we want to say thank you for everything."
i nod, "for taking us in all those months ago. you knew we didnt want to be here. but.. you made us feel so welcome."
"girls, we're the ones who should be thanking you guys." katherine sighs, "i mean you've brought this family so much. cole's going to summer school. danny has juilliard and alex is going to camp, and nathan connect with both of you and benny and jordan love you. i mean avery, isaac talks about you all the time and he and lee are learning so much from you."
jackie and i smile. i felt my eyes start to water, i noticed my sisters eyes glistening as well.
oh please not again.
"and let's face it, i mean, you guys are the two sisters parker's always wanted."
"we feel like we found our new family," jackie sniffles, i nod in agreement.
