When I woke up the next day, Piper was still sleep but only because she was practically up all night. It wasn't even morning anymore, it was noon. I skipped breakfast and decided I should go back home and check up on my dad. I told Piper's mom goodbye and made my way back home. On my way there an old lady stopped in front of me. "Hello." I said quite cheerfully.
"He's here and he's watching you so mind your feet and where they take you because he'll get you too."
"Who? I asked, but she was gone already down the street. Wait!" But she only wobbled faster and then she was gone. I decided I needed to speed walk if I wanted to make sure my dad was safe, but he wasn't home. I assumed he went to work so I just relaxed in the house. I decided to go on the computer and look up on the website of the bank my mom had worked at. They had my mom's name and picture up there with a RIP sign. Mom was so pretty to me. She was a strawberry blonde lady with long legs but she was short at the same time. She was the nicest sweetest and most successful lady I knew, still never understood why anyone would want her dead. I read up all over the website but did not find anything to catch my attention. Then I read a small article called "The Big Money Scandal" It reads : "The successful charity group accused of money smuggling into secret account instead of helping charity. Nobody had any evidence or claims so Mount West Bank still continues to pay money group."

Is this what Dad meant when he said that Mom believed that these people were stealing? Did they have something to do with Mom's murder? I just want to know who killed my Mom! Should I give up? But how could I? I was so close to it , but at the same time so close to being killed myself. I heard a knock on the door and it was Piper I let her in and we sat downstairs watching T.V. After a few moments of silence she said "Is it okay if I call Chase and Caden over? Maybe we need more friends." She half chuckled.
"Fine." I said. I tried not to smile so much because Caden was going to be in my house , but I thought he was so cute I just don't want him to see me a mess. I quickly ran upstairs to doll myself up to make sure I at least looked decent for Caden. I decided I should call Dad just to let him know I was having friends over. I dialed the phone. No answer. Dad's seriously been acting weird lately, I hope he's okay but I'll call again later. By the time I got downstairs, Piper was letting in Chase and Caden."Hi guys." Isaid walking down the stairs.

"Hey, we brought chips." Chase said.
"And dip! Don't ever forget the cheesy spicy salsa type dip! Caden said, " and hopefully you guys want to watch the movie we brought, Kill Her First!" The movie sounded ridiculous, but at least I can spend time with Caden. Everyone sat down in front of the television on the long couch as I put the movie in. I pushed play and took a seat next to Caden. The movie was so graphic and gory and had so many jump scares I was ready to tell everyone they had to go home. Watching the movie made me hear my mom screaming again, the mblood spewing, the man grunting, the knife slicing. I had lost it! I stood up " You guys have to go home now, please."
"Ryan are you, scared?" Chase said in a mocking voice."Stop it, she's right you guys have to go now." Piper backed me up. I went to the front door and let Chase and Caden leave.

Was it me? Everyone just seemed so awkward now. Where was Dad anyway? "Piper, I'm going to make sure my dad is okay so I'll see you tomorrow. "Fine, just call me later and let me know how if you're okay."Piper said as she made her way to the front door. I made my way upstairs to my room and called my Dad four times. Then I heard someone walk in through the front door laughing. I swiftly walked to the steps and peeked downstairs. It was Dad... And this lady. "Dad!" I yelled running down the steps. "Ry, hun I'm sorry I haven't been here all day and I left my phone upstairs but I had a bit of an accident."
"A bad accident." The lady said almost humorously. "Oh, what a bad start. Hi Ryan, I'm Mariann Morrison, I work with your father, it's very nice to meet you."
" It's nice to meet you too." I said.
If she worked with Dad why was she back here? In my house. She stood really tall with the straightest black hair I ever seen. She wore a dressy white button-up and a black skirt with stockings under. "Your Dad here, came to work completely wasted and then passed out and I had to drag him to my house until he woke up sick." Mariann said."I'm sorry to worry you Ry, but I'm fine now I just need to go to bed, okay?" Dad said. "Fine, if you need anything just come tell me." I said. Then I hugged him and he walked upstairs. I looked at Mariann that looked like she was waiting for something. "I'm really sorry about your Mom, Ryan she was a very nice lady." Mariann said.
"You knew my mom?"
"Yes, she used to always come by the office for your father, but then one day she stopped and I had heard the news."
"Yes, I remember it perfectly clear."
"I really am sorry for Amanda, I only talked to her a few times, sweet lady she just never let anything get passed her."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Well your mom thought me and your father were actually having some kind of affair, can you believe that? Huh."
"Well were you guys?"
"Oh, no hun don't tell me you actually believe I wanted your father? She was so sure that we were messing around, sometimes people should really mind their business."

She left out slamming the door. She sounded suspicious like she knew something. Was it me, or did the whole town seem to know something I didn't know about. My Mom's death seemed like it made a lot of people happy and fake sad but, they all felt bad for me. Even if I'm the only person left who cares I will take care of this mom I will find out who killed you. Then all of a sudden the lights went out and I heard a large thump upstairs. Dad.
