"I don't think I'm ready," I say.

"He's just your brother, Beatrice," Natalie says.

I sigh a little and look out the window towards Caleb's house. It's been forever since I've seen him and now that I have the chance, I'm too nervous.

"Look, Andrew and I will be right here in the car waiting just in case you feel like coming back."

I give Natalie a small smile and get out of the car. Taking a deep breathe I head towards the front door, anticipating the moment I see Caleb. Natalie is right, he's my brother. I'm the one who changed him, fed him, cleaned him, bathed him, everything. I shouldn't be afraid of the person who I love the most, my baby brother. Caleb, oh how I've missed you. So many thoughts rush through my head about how big Caleb is or how he's going to react when he sees me.

It's been five minutes that I've been standing outside their door thinking to myself. This is really happening. I take another deep breath
and knock on the front door. I feel anxious and nervous all at the same time. My heart beats like an endless drum.

A small women opens the door.

"Are you Beatrice?," she says.

"Yes..," I say rather shyly.

"Come in, come in. My name is Catherine, how do you do?," she says.

I step into the house with uncertainty. My heart is beating in my ears as I look through the house, noticing how there are pictures of Caleb on their walls.

"I'm doing fine, thank you," I say as I clear my throat. "Thank you for giving me this opportunity to see my little brother."

"While your quite welcome dear," she says, but I catch her murmuring something else under her breathe. "But it wasn't all my idea."

"Caleb," Catherine calls.

I feel the lump in my throat as I brace myself. Don't cry Beatrice, your stronger than this. It's an endless rhythm as my heart keeps beating faster and faster, waiting for Caleb to come. Catherine offers for me to sit down on the couch and I politely decline. I feel numb with my palms sweaty and my stomach churning. When I hear the soft sound of those footsteps come down the hall, I see Caleb standing right in front of me.

We look at each other with the same expression, neither of us moving from where we stand. I clear my throat and choke on my words before muttering, "Caleb."

He runs and hugs me as tight as his little arms can. I hug him back, embracing every little moment I can. I run my fingers through his hair, trying to convince myself that this is all real.

"You came back," he says.

"Of course I did," I say.

"Why did you let them separate us? We were supposed to be a family."

I pull away our hug and look him in the eyes.

"I didn't let them take you away Caleb, I-," before I could say anything else, Catherine interrupts.

"Why don't we sit down at the dinner table?," she says motioning me to the kitchen.

Caleb makes his way to the kitchen and sits down in the middle of the table, motioning for me to sit next to him. The kitchen is big with and island in the middle. Everything is in its place and it's all spotless. I sit down next to Caleb when Catherine grabs my arms and suggests I sit in front of Caleb.
