Shadowflux

"You weren't wrong about the torture part," Tam mutters as you pull out your home crystal so as not to wait in the long line to the Leapmaster. You, Tam and Linh leap to Solreef and go up the (overly large amount of) stairs. Tiergan is already there when you get to the kitchen for a snack because school is exhausting.

"Hello, you three. Any plans for the rest of the day?" he asks.

"Collapse on my bed and try not to have a brain aneurism," you and Tam respond at the same time. You both laugh and go to your separate rooms. You try to relax but something just seems off. You go to Tam's room.

"Something seems off," you say as you enter.

"Yeah," Tam agrees. You both sit on his bed when Tam's Imparter goes off. He answers and it's Elwin.

"SophieandFitzareintheHealingCenterbecauseofaNeverssenattackandIcan'tfigureoutwhat'swrongwiththemandwhenItriedtohailY/nshedidn'tanswer," Elwin says quite fast as his words fuse together into one long word.

"Come again? And maybe slower so I can actually understand?" you ask. Elwin takes a deep breath.

"Sophie and Fitz are in the Healing Center because of a Neverseen attack and I can't figure out what's wrong with them and when I tried to hail Y/n, you didn't answer," Elwin repeats.

"We'll be there in five," you say. You and Tam run up to the Leapmaster, running into Tiergan along the way.

"Medical help for Sophie and Fitz! Hail you when we finish!" Tam says hurriedly as you pass him.

"What?!" Tiergan asks.

"No time to explain!" you call back.

"FOXFIRE!" Tam calls. You leap to Foxfire and run to the Healing Center. You're hit with the knowledge that there is a ton of shadowflux in the room. You look at Sophie and Fitz and cringe.

"Well?" Elwin asks, clearly stressed.

"Shadowflux. Give us a second," Tam responds. You two focus and get all the shadowflux out of their systems.

"Work your magic," you say and sit on one of the beds. Tam sits next to you. 

"Are you guys going to stay here?" Elwin asks.

"We told Tiergan we'd hail him once we finished. We don't exactly want to go through with that anymore," you explain. 

"Understandable. You're going to have to hail him, though. He deserves to know what's happening to the Moonlark before Leto barges in," Elwin says.

"Yeah, yeah. We know. We'll hail him," Tam says, digging out his Imparter.

"Good luck," Elwin says.

"You aren't helping," you retaliate. Tiergan responds.

"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO SOPHIE??!!" he asks instantly. My eyes widen at the outburst the second he responded.

"The Neverseen released their Shade. Umber used shadowflux to incapacitate the Cognates," Tam explains, struggling to keep his shock and fear out of his voice. You do not want to pass an angry Tiergan.

"You have got to be kidding me," Tiergan hisses. We shake our heads.

"They'll recover," Elwin jumps in. "Eventually," he mutters. Tiergan, unfortunately, hears this.

"What do you mean, 'eventually'" Tiergan asks, trying to control his temper.

"I mean, I don't know how long it will take for them to recover. They both suffered crazy injuries and I have to keep them in a medically induced coma until they can wake without risking hurting themselves more," Elwin explains. Tiergan is about to blow.
