43. Where Is She?...

             Desperate, I searched all over my apartment, checking every nook and cranny for any sign of Ms. Phrien inside. Unable to locate her, I abandoned my search within my apartment and reached for my phone, plugging it in to charge. As I paced anxiously, eagerly waiting for it to charge, every passing second felt like an eternity. "This day just keeps getting worse..." I mumbled, my fingers drumming impatiently on the countertop.

             After a few minutes of waiting, the familiar sound of my phone turning on instantly drew my attention to it. In a matter of seconds, I hastily snatched my phone as it was still charging and began to unlock it. I felt my heart sink into my stomach when I saw all the missed calls and unread messages from Ms. Phrien. "17 missed calls! And... 30+ messages?! Oh gosh..." I muttered, feeling a mix of panic and dread wash over me.

             In a state of panic, I frantically dialed up Ms. Phrien's number as quickly as I could, my hands trembling as my heart quickly pounded in my chest. Before I could properly gather my thoughts, Ms. Phrien had already picked up on the first ring. "Oh My Gosh, Sheila! Where are you?!" She asked, her voice trembling with worry through the speaker.

             "I-I'm home right now, Ms. Phrien. Don't worry..." I reassured her, my voice wavering slightly. "T-Thank goodness..." She breathes a sigh of relief. "W-Where did you go? I haven't heard anything from you since our last call so I... got really worried that something bad might have happened to you and I just couldn't..." Her voice cracked slightly as she tried to hold back tears.
