63. Helping Hand

             Since I don't really communicate with other people unless needed, Ms. Phrien was the only person who I was closest to — pretty much my only friend. I wanted to bring up the topic of my hair problem with her. I needed to know if there was a possibility of my hair returning to its natural color.

             But... After my unfortunate succubus incident, both of us would constantly come up with any reasons just to evade a proper chat or to stay silent about it... Maybe we both share the same fear of knowing and... saying too much... It saddens me to see the two of us like this... especially since I already considered Ms. Phrien as my family...

             Regardless, during the following few days, our exchange of words was minimal, hesitant to resume our previous discussion. Maybe that's why... I haven't done anything for these past few days... Yet, before I realized it, I found myself approaching her once again after I caught a glimpse of her.

             "There you are, Ms. Phrien! I need to ask you something. Are you available later tonight?" I asked her. "What is it, Sheila? Is everything alright? Are you feeling unwell?" Ms. Phrien's brows furrowed with concern. "N-No, I feel fine! I just... need to discuss something with you tonight." I clarified.

             "I-Is that so..." She glanced at her watch, then back to me. "Yes, I'm free later..." She said, though there was a noticeable hesitation in her tone. "Is there a reason why you can't tell me right now?" She asked.

             "Well... nothing really, but..." I came close and leaned in. "It's actually about... succubus..." I whispered to her. Her eyes widened slightly before nodding. "I see..." She mumbled, then showed a gentle smile. "Very well, I'll make my way to your place later after I finish my tasks for today, okay?" Feeling that Ms. Phrien was busy, I decided to offer my help. "You seem pretty busy... Do you need help with anything today? We could just change our meeting day for another time if you're busy." I asked.
