             "Do you know where I might find some jobs around here?" I asked Ms. Phrien, and her reaction to the question seemed a bit surprised. "Well, yes, but unfortunately, I can't let you take on jobs until you're 18." She responded, pausing momentarily and studying me. Then she continued, "However, if you're really eager for work, you could become my assistant and assist me with tasks. Of course, I'd make sure to pay you for your help." She flashed a smile. I was intrigued, so I asked, "What kind of tasks would I be doing?"

             Her explanation followed, "You'd be assisting me in collecting rent from other tenants in this apartment building and lending a hand with various tasks around here. There's really no fixed schedule here so you can pitch in whenever you're available or if I needed your help with something." She gave me a friendly smile as she patiently waited for my response.
