Gaster was relieved to hear you would still come, but he knew it would be no easy task to train you, who had never used magic before in your entire life. There were two separate ways he could go about training you. Everyone worked in different ways, learning either a passive manner or an aggressive manner. The passive manner was how Papyrus was taught, using meditation and practicing martial arts forms to connect to and summon forth magic. The aggressive manner was how Sans was taught, actively putting the soul into dangerous battle simulations and forcing it to learn how to use magic to defend itself. Gaster didn't think that you were much of an aggressive learner and decided to start with morning meditation exercises before teaching her in the martial arts forms after. "Why am I doing this again, and why aren't Sans and Gaster joining in?" You asked Papyrus as he guided you through your first steps of aikido. "My Brother And Father Learned Magic Different From Me, So I Am Best Suited To Instruct You!" Papyrus answered cheerily. "I Will Make Sure You Are Fully Connected To Your Soul And Your Magic!" Papyrus promised you with a brilliant smile.

"The Meditation Connects You To Your Soul... With Each Breath, I Want You To Focus On Yourself. What Do You Feel Around You? And Don't Open Your Eyes!" You hummed as you tried to focus on your touch. "I feel... the cold breeze of the open window... I feel my plush blanket beneath me..." You responded. "Good... Inhale Deeply, Focus On That... How It Feels. Do You Feel Anything Around It?" Once more, you did as you were tasked, but you didn't feel anything. "Should I feel something around my lungs?"
"No, Not Always. We Are Only Beginning. It Will Take Time, To Feel Your Soul, [Y/N]." Papyrus replied. "There Is No Need To Rush It." You nodded softly in understanding. For the next month, morning was meditation, while evening was martial arts. Eventually, you slowly started to feel an energy in your chest, and when it became apparent, you let Papyrus know. "That's good! Wonderful! That Is Your Soul! From Here On, We Will Start Guiding Your Magic, That Energy, Through Your Body So That You Can Get Used To Using It!" Papyrus explained to you. You were getting pretty excited! You were getting somewhere!

As you and Gaster got ready to sleep for the night, you asked him how he learned magic. Gaster gave you an amused smile. "Curious, are we? Well, we were in the middle of a war, so I was put through rigorous training that had killed a good many cadets in order to learn my magic. If you were wondering, Sans learned the same way as I did. It was the only way I knew how to train him. If I hadn't ended up here, Papyrus would've gone through the same training, but whoever taught him taught him well..." Gaster had that proud dad gleam in his eye. You leaned into him. "I couldn't agree more... he taught me so much already. I feel stronger." Gaster wrapped his arms around you. "You do feel stronger..." He agreed. "Both physically and magically... I can feel you magic now, when I couldn't before and I am so proud of you..." You both shared a kiss before you both laid down for the night. "Am I strong enough to get you all home?" You whisper questioned. "Not quite yet... once you can summon a bone for a minute, then you will be..." So that was your goal.
