"I'm sorry to interrupt it's just I'm constantly on the cusp of trying to kiss you."
- Arctic MonkeysSkye giggled quietly as Sirius tugged on her hand, leading her away from the log and from the party.
"Where are we going, Sirius?"
She asked, no longer as high or drunk as she had been.
"Can we talk?"
He asked suddenly, turning to face her. Sirius was a hot mess; his hair was dishevelled and his eyes were overly bright, his shirt crumpled. His grip tightened on Skye's hand.
"About what, Sirius?"
Skye asked flatly.
"Oh don't be fun!"
He smirked.
"Last year, Skye. Us. You. Me. Can you please just let me explain?"
He asked, his voice softening at the the end. Skye rolled her eyes and tried not to weaken. But she looked up, catching Sirius' eye. He was staring at her through blurry eyes, gazing at her pleadingly. As much as Skye still wanted to hate him, still wanted to be finished with him and everything about him, she couldn't. Sighing, she sat down, her back against a tree.
"Fine. I'm listening.""... And I know I shouldn't have kissed you while I had a girlfriend, I know that. It was seriously stupid and so fucking immature-"
"You could say that again."
Skye bit back, taking a pill on her cigarette. She passed it to Sirius, who inhaled the smoke, his eyes fixed ahead of him.
"Look, how many times do I have to say I'm sorry?"
"At least once more, Sirius. Always."
She told him, smirking despite the tension in the air.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm so, so fucking sorry, Skye. To be honest.. I wouldn't have gone out with that Ravenclaw girl if.. I was trying to make you jealous."
He admitted finally, his head low. Skye looked at him sidelong, confused.
"You.. Tried to make me jealous?"
She asked, letting out a small, short laugh.
"Yeah.. Moony told me it was stupid, I just.. I didn't know how else to get you're attention, y'know? And all last year.. I couldn't keep myself away from you. I couldn't help it, and you just seemed to hate me. I can see why, I just.. Wish that, y'know, I wasn't such a fucking arse."
Sirius finished, his elbow resting on his knee, his eyes looking out into the dark woods. He exhaled, smoke filling the air between them. Skye didn't know what to say; she couldn't deny that Sirius was arse, obviously, after everything. But he had always been one of Skye's favourite people, and the one she had the strongest feelings for in the Marauders. Apart from.. She shook the thought from her head.
"I love that song."
Sirius commented suddenly, his voice quiet.
"What song?"
Skye asked, confused. Sirius snorted.
"You always do that when you're nervous. You hum. I bet you don't even realise it."
"Oh come off it, Black!"
Skye scoffed, not believing him.
"You do! Right now, you were just humming an Elvis song."
He smirked, looking at her. She looked back up at him and the two locked eyes, staring at each other. Skye melted, and little did she know so did Sirius. He spoke up suddenly, his voice barely audible.
"Do you forgive me?"
He asked softly, gently placing his hand over hers. Skye knew she missed Sirius. It was their sixth year, she couldn't shun him forever. And although what he did was stupid, his motives were sweet.
"How could I not?"
