"Conceal, don't feel. Don't let it show."
- Queen Elsa"Trelawney! Needs to stop with the predictions." Sirius grumbled, flopping down under the shade of a tree in the sun, a few days after school started. "Tell me about it!" Skye said quietly. "McGonagal needs to stop with the homework." Peter complained, sitting down and chewing on a liquorice wand. "McGonagal needs to stop with the detentions." James said. "James and Sirius need to stop with the complaining." Remus said, making Skye laugh loudly, putting her hands behind her head and staring at the clouds. Sirius, James and Peter sniggered, leaning on the tree or lying on the grass. The scene was very typical of them all; Peter was eating hungrily, Remus was reading, Sirius was looking at the girls down at the lake, and James was throwing around a snitch, catching it expertly. Skye lay next to Remus, her hands behind her head, watching the clouds. "I love it when the weather is like this." She sighed happily. "Same. It's so.." "Sunny?" Remus supplied, and James nodded. Their happy, relaxed mood was cut off by the arrival of six Slytherin boys, glaring at James and Sirius in particular. They shot Skye a glance as she stood up, feeling the tension rising. She recognised Severus Snape, who looked reluctant to be there. "He was probably scared of James and Sirius." Skye thought, her eyes flicking to Regulus Black, Sirius' younger brother. Mulciber and Avery stood with then, their arms folded across their chests. Two other boys Skye didn't know stood with them, beside Regulus. Probably from his year. "Can we help you?" Skye asked, and Remus shot her a glance, silently telling her not to get involved. "We weren't talking to you." Regulus snapped at her, and Sirius clenched his fists. "Don't speak to her like that." He growled, stepping forward. "Sirius, it doesn't bother me." Skye told him quietly, but she was ignored. Skye looked to Remus and Peter, but Peter was watching the scene eagerly, and Remus was reading, his eyes not following the words. Occasionally he glanced up nervously, but he didn't get involved. By the time Skye turned back around, Sirius and Regulus were heatedly arguing, and James was threatening Snape. "Why don't you run along to Mummy and tell her about it, then?" Sirius snapped at his brother. "You're just jealous because you wish you could." Regulus replied. "I'm warning you, Snivellous-" James was saying. "Warning me what, Potter?" Snape sneered. "You and you're cronies had better stop spreading rumours about-" "You're girlfriend?" Avery asked, raising his eyebrows and looking at Skye. Her blue eyes widened in bewilderment and she looked from Avery to James to Sirius, confused. "James, let's just leave it." "No, Skye!" Sirius barked at her. Skye didn't flinch, looking at him cooly. "Sirius." She said icily. "Drop it. He's not worth the detentions you'll get." She said, her voice stern but calm. "Stay out of this, Mubblood." One of the Slytherin's spat at her. Her pretty blue eyes widened, and Skye felt as if she had been punched in the stomach. Sirius reacted immediately, jumping for the boy. He pinned him to the tree, twisting his jumper around in his fists. "You.. You.. ASS!" He spat, anger flaring in his grey blue eyes. "Who the hell do you think you are?" James yelled at him, pulling out his wand. Snape reacted, fumbling with his robes, searching for his wand. "Expelliarmus!" Remus yelled, disarming three of the Slytherin's. Even Regulus looked slightly shocked at what his friend had said, but he didn't do anything to stop it. Sirius and the boy were struggling, the boy twisting, trying to get away. Sirius had his fist raised to punch the boy, and finally Skye reacted. "Sirius!" She yelled, raising her hand. Water flew from nowhere, sliding into clear, shining ice, and stopping only short of the boy and Sirius. Skye's eyed widened hugely, gazing at the ice that came from nowhere. It was clear and tall, sleek and shiny, and sharp. Dangerous. Remus and James stared at her, and Peter looked at the ice with awe. After a long silence, Sirius smacked the boys head off the tree, shaking him. The Slyterin hit the tree, a smacking sound ringing in his ears as the back of his head connected with the bark. He gave Sirius a scared, wide eyed look, before running away with the other boys. Skye, Peter, James, Remus and Sirius were left, standing in the sunshine, in the shade of an oak tree, staring at the shiny, clear ice in front of them. There was a long pause, in which no one looked at each other, before Peter spoke up. "Y-you really showed him, Skye." He said awkwardly. "Skye?" Remus asked quietly when she didn't reply. "I.. Im sorry, honestly guys, I don't know what that was I just.." She rambled, trailing off. "Skye." Remus repeated, and she looked up at him, blue eyes connecting with his brown ones. "Remus.. I'm really sorry.. I just.. Can't." She said, her voice dropping to a whisper. "Skye, relax, you just-" Sirius started, but he was cut off by Skye, who snatched her hand away from him and ran off, into the woods that were slowly darkening.
