"Samayara just left crying," Aakib said casually, eyes glued to his phone as if what he just dropped wasn't a bomb.

My fists clenched as I bolted toward the elevator, rage bubbling under my skin. I swear, I'm going to knock some sense into this thick-headed fucker when I get back.

We were on a study break—guys chilling on the balcony, girls in the guest room.

Everything seemed fine, until now.

As I raced down the hallway, I never hated the most luxurious penthouse of the city more as my mind scrambled through every possible reason for her tears.

Myra wasn't like this.

She'd come a long way, especially with my friends. Just a few hours ago, during the first study break, she smiled and fed me with her hands, ignoring the usual snarky comments the Ratpack couldn't help but throw our way. Myra even went out of her way to initiate a hug, even when I was drenched in sweat, and asked me for help with physics questions, which she could've figured out on her own.

She was trying—trying to fit in, trying to adopt our chaos as her own.

So what the hell could've gone so wrong?

"Myra, wait!" I shouted, just as the elevator doors slid shut.

Cursing under my breath, I made for the stairs, but Samrudh grabbed my shoulder, stopping me in my tracks.

"You won't make it in time. Let her go for now," he said, his voice calm but firm. "Ask Eve and Prii first. Figure out what happened."

I hated it, but he was right. Forty floors? Not happening. Begrudgingly, I followed him back to the guest room, where I found Eve already mid-argument with Prii.

"What happened?" I demanded, my voice low and cold as I stepped in. They froze, clearly sensing I wasn't in the mood for any excuses.

"Ishaana happened," Eve snapped, throwing a sharp glare at Prii. I knew that look too well—it was a silent warning, telling Prii to shut her mouth.

"Evaana," I growled, my tone dropping dangerously low. "I asked what happened. Why did Myra leave crying?"

Eve hesitated, but Prii, fidgeting with guilt, finally broke.

"Well, Evyaan... Ishaana called while Sunshine was in the washroom," she began nervously. "That idiot Ishaana thought Myra messaged her on purpose and set us up to threaten her or something. One thing led to another, and she called Myra a coward for 'letting us fight her battles.' Then, her even more idiotic boyfriend got on the phone and said if Myra—or any of us—tried to contact Ishaana again, we'd 'disappear in a mysterious accident.'"
