"What?" I asked Evaana, who was already standing outside the restaurant surrounded by Kiaan and the rest of our group.

Kiaan smirked at me like he knew something I didn't—or something I'd been trying to hide.

I raised an eyebrow, silently asking what was going on, but the jerk just leaned in and whispered something to Evaana, shaking his head as if to say he wouldn't spill.

"Tell me what it is, or I'm leaving right now," I warned, turning on my heels, genuinely tired of whatever game they were playing.

"It's about Samayara," Evaana finally said—and just like that, my feet turned back of their own accord.

"You like her, dumbo," she stated bluntly, and I swear, for a second, even I had to stop and ask myself if it was true.

"Since when is being a decent human being considered 'liking' someone?" I snapped, irritated by both their assumptions and the storm of confusion already in my head.

"Ever since you started obsessing over her ex-love life," she shot back, sounding a little too confident. Then again, Evaana is never not confident.

"How do you even know that?" I asked, suddenly feeling exposed. I hadn't told her a word.

"I've got my sources, dumbo," she replied, flipping her hair like she was in a shampoo ad and had just uncovered state secrets.

"Just don't mess it up," she warned, her tone suddenly serious. "She's not someone you play around with."

"As if I would!" I said, my voice tightening with frustration. "I'm just trying to be her friend and protect her from that bastard."

And I meant it. Every word.

The more I thought about what Laksh had done, the angrier I got. The injustice of it all made everything feel urgent.

Evaana had just finished giving us the full lowdown on Samayara's breakup, and now everyone from the Rat Pack was suddenly invested—expressions flickering between disbelief, concern, and quiet fury.

"I've known Laksh for a long time, but I never thought he'd act like that. I'm sure it's his fault—Samayara wouldn't have done something like that," Kiaan said, voicing his judgment.Hegot  ignored as Pratyusha jumped in with a dramatic flair.

"If you want to tame her," she said, "you better start sticking to her like glue."

"For the last time, it's not taming. It's called befriending," I corrected, almost groaning.

"It's good to see the day when Evyaan Jadeja is struggling to befriend someone. Usually, it's the other way around," Samrudh added dryly, the taunt barely hidden in his tone.

"I'd love to be in the same situation," Kiaan declared, way too enthusiastically.

"Not being able to befriend your own love interest? How romantic and thrilling," Aakib added with exaggerated disappointment.
