This is awkward.
Ever since that night a week ago, when Evyaan slammed me against the door—waking up the whole house—we had to lie about a cat sneaking in from the balcony.
Things have been awkward between us since then. We had gotten so used to cuddling, hugging, and even pecks on the cheeks that it feels empty and wrong to be this distant.
Even now, when we visit the construction building to spend time together, it's not the same.
We still haven't had our official first date. He says he's into old-school romance and wants to claim me before taking me out. I can't tell if he's being serious or just messing with me.
Even the thought of his words makes my throat dry, and I grab my bottle as we sit on opposite sides of the unfinished room.
"So, are you free today?" I ask him as he opens a Greek yogurt and hands it to me.
"Yes, I'll come back early from skating," he says, opening a can of Coke for himself. "Why, though?" he asks.
"I want you to come with me somewhere," I tell him, managing not to choke on my yogurt and mentally patting myself on the back for it.
"Will it take long? Is it shopping, Angel?" he asks, taking out his phone to check his schedule. It kind of irritates me how busy we've gotten day by day, but I understand.
Just the day before yesterday, I joined his study institute—Sky Institute, the most famous in the city. Vedika Di recommended it to my parents, and I strongly believe it was because of her that they accepted a student midterm.
The moment I entered the prestigious institute, instead of feeling motivated, my hopes were shattered when some students joked, "Institutes be named Sky and take your grades to hell with them."
