I woke up with a headache—and of course, it had to be my time of the month.

Vanie had agreed to have lunch with me, and she was supposed to return soon. I guess my doubts about her acting distant were just my overthinking again.

Things with Vanie were actually going well. We were building a bond, and I didn't want my own thoughts to mess that up.

Even though I didn't feel like moving, I forced myself out of bed, dragged through my hygiene routine, and then flopped back into bed.

Just then, my phone buzzed.

Evyaan: I sent all the pictures, including the cat ones.

There were several—most adorable, and yes, the cats were definitely a highlight. I was still scrolling when another message came in.

Evyaan: Send me the pictures you have on your phone too. All of them.

Me: There are more than a hundred. Should I send them all?

I figured I should double-check in case he wanted only specific ones.

Evyaan: Fine by me.

So I sent everything—every beautiful picture I'd clicked since we arrived in Sohrem.

Just then, a bunch of voices came crashing into the room.

"So, are we ordering chicken or not? Is it even on the menu?"

"Oh hey, Sam," Prajakta said, tossing her bag onto my bed.

"Hey," I replied, a little surprised. I thought it was just going to be lunch with Vanie.

"Are you feeling sick? You look really pale," Vanie asked, already checking my forehead.

"No, I just got my period," I sighed. Her fingers in my hair were oddly comforting.

"Let's order food. You'll eat something light, yeah?" she asked, her fingers still brushing through.

"We only get one order," Sakshi said. "Let's finalize quickly."

"Just a basic vegetarian thali for me," I mumbled, eyes half-closed, enjoying Vanie's soothing touch.

"Your muscles are so tight. Doesn't it hurt?" she asked, pressing into my back.

"It does. But I think a nap will help," I said.

The food arrived, and Vanie brought my thali to my bed while the others gathered around the table.

"They're all eating non-veg, so I brought yours here," she said softly, placing the tray on my lap.

"Thanks," I smiled at her.

"So, did you guys have fun being lost or what? Spill, Samayara," Ojaswini asked, her eyes twinkling.

"How is getting lost fun? It must've been so stressful," Vanie said before I could reply.
