43. Aftermath

The soldiers turned back to humans looked disoriented. When the founder titan disappeared from the sky, the intelligent titans were able to move again. The colossal titans that came out of the wall were already walking to the outside world. But the most pressing matter was the falling girl on the sky.

"Lexie!" Armin yelled and did his best to glide to her as fast as he could.

Watching from the floor. Eren quickly transformed again and jumped up, successfully catching her in his hands softly. He knelt in his titan form and put his hand on the floor. He then came out from his nape and rushed to her before his titan body burned away. Lexie was unconscious, Eren carried her out of his titan hand as it burned away and laid her on the floor softly.

"Don't touch her!" Came Armin's scream and he pushed Eren away and checked on Lexie himself. "Lexie, please, wake up, sweetheart" Armin called softly. Lexie didn't respond, blood started coming out of her nose.

Mikasa, Jean and Connie came and stood around Lexie too. Soon, the military joined them too, now humans again.

"Grab the Marleyan soldiers!" Commander Pixis ordered. "Tie down and muzzle all the intelligent titans and lock them up! Get any remaining Jaegerists too!"

Soon the soldiers were taking care of all of it.

Reiner, out from his armored titan, cradled the human body of Porco, who was still healing half his face. Gabi had rushed to Falco, who was crying when he realized his brother, Colt, had died because he held him as Falco transformed. Seeing the worry the other titan shifters had for the children, the Paradisians decided to lock them all together in a small cell so they wouldn't transform. Meanwhile, Zeke was to be put in solitary confinement.

Eren was kneeling some inches away from Lexie, staring at her with regret and tears in his eyes.

"It wasn't supposed to be this way." Eren cried. "I was supposed to do this. I was supposed to be the common enemy here. I was the one that had to be killed. Lexie was going to be spared, she was going to live a long and happy life, she has to marry Armin." Eren was again crying desesperately like he used to all those years ago, it was the most emotion his friends had seen from him in a while. All his plans had failed, all he had done had been for nothing.

"Eren." Mikasa called as she stood next to him with cuffs and a muzzle. "I have to arrest you."

Eren looked up at her, Mikasa's gaze was not soft towards him anymore, it was cold and stoic. He only stood up and let himself be tied and muzzled. He was also to be taken to solitary confinement

A stretcher was quickly made by Connie and Jean. Armin and Jean pulled Lexie on it quickly and a cart was brought. They all got into the cart. Mikasa sat next to a cuffed and muzzled Eren. Armin sat on the floor next to an unconscious Lexie. Connie rode the carriage, Jean sat with him too.

It didn't take long for them to reach the HQ.

"I'll take him downstairs and join you in a bit." Mikasa said, taking Eren to a solitary cell.

They took Lexie to a room and a medic was quick to asses her health. She seemed to have a fever, but other than that, she wasn't injured.

"Armin, I know you are worried, but we need to regroup." Jean said. Armin had been holding Lexie's hand all the time, but Jean was right. They had to regroup and plan. After all, the Rumbling had been started. Armin reluctantly stood up and walked with Jean to a room where the rest of his friends and Commander Pixis were.

"How are we looking?" Armin asked.

"Most loses were Marleyan, we captured their general. Two Marleyan airships were able to flee. All titan shifters are tied and muzzled, including Eren. He and Zeke are in separate solitary confinement." Commander Pixis said. "From the volunteers, only Yelena is being held. We also locked up the jeagerists."
