What She Never Knew

pretty sure

once, a person came up to me and glared
they said
"You are being selfish not sharing your lunch with others."

now, i thought about this carefully
they were mad at me because i wasn't sharing the lunch
I packed with MY food

im pretty sure being selfish is not when you care about yourself too much
but when you care about others too little

you see, my parents work hard 7:5 every day to feed me
and i bet your parents do too
so what was wrong with me sitting in the corner of the cafeteria alone eating a small lunch?
i don't know
but maybe you do

you see, next time you say im selfish
how about instead you come sit by me and start a conversation
how about you give me a bit of your lunch because mine is so small
how about you just shut up and eat

but
im pretty sure next time you say im selfish
i will turn around with a big smile for you
and leave saying
"Here, that's for you. Maybe you are as selfish as me too."
